Art Talk — see what’s in store for the art lover in you

-

Watch out! When three Naperville area non-profits unite and blend their missions, the results are invigorating.  At least, that is the vision of the Downtown Naperville Alliance (DNA), Naperville Art League and Arranmore Center for the Arts. Inspired by similar events in other cities, the organizations banded together to stimulate the understanding and appreciation of the arts while promoting the art experience and driving traffic into Naperville’s thriving business district.

The resulting (sub)URBAN ART WALK, scheduled for Saturday, June 16, from noon until 4PM, provides an exhibit of juried art displayed in over 30 shops along Naperville’s main streets. Sponsored by John Green Realtor, Naperville Bank & Trust and the DNA, the selected artists compete for cash prizes as the public is invited to come, view and vote on their favorite entries. A wide variety of work will be on display including a 9’ horse made out of bicycle parts. Oil, acrylic, pastel, ceramic and paper will also be represented in both 2-D and 3-D pieces. Artists will be available to answer questions and further discuss their process.

The show organizers are hopeful that with a little nurturing the (sub)URBAN ART WALK can become an annual event and give the community an opportunity to discover and explore the many surprises that Naperville has in store.
