Attorney Gerald A. Cassioppi of Naperville recently was named Lawyer of the Year by the DuPage County Bar Association. The award was presented in recognition of his “excellent capacity as General Counsel and his dedication to reworking the DCBA bylaws.”
According to outgoing DCBA President Colleen McLaughlin, Cassioppi (pronounced CASS-ee-OH-pee) has been “an incredible asset” to this year’s Board of Directors and to her personally, noting his ability to bring focus and perspective to all discussions.
“As President, I could not have asked for a better ‘sounding board.’ Gerry’s experience with other nonprofits, organizations and his knowledge of the changing laws in this area was tremendously helpful throughout the year; particularly when we took on the task of completely revising our bylaws,” noted McLaughlin in a press release. ” That project involved a huge time commitment on Gerry’s part and our organization owes him a debt of gratitude for his commitment to getting the job done.”
Cassioppi is a partner at Nyberg & Cassioppi, LLC. He served as Associate General Counsel for the Dupage County Bar Association’s Board of Directors in 2010-2011 and General Counsel in 2011-2012. He was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 term.
Cassioppi has extensive legal and business experience and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has corporate experience as In-house Counsel, and in private practice has provided legal counsel to a wide range of businesses, from Fortune 100 to start-up and rapid growth companies. Cassioppi provides counsel to businesses and business owners for commercial transactions, executive compensation, specialized contracts, acquisitions and divestitures, employee benefits, real estate contracts and leases and has represented companies regarding boards of directors, shareholders and other corporate governance matters.
Active in the community, Cassioppi is a member of the Rotary Club of Naperville where he recently was appointed to its board as Director for the Rotary Foundation. Currently, he also volunteers on the NCHS Athletic Booster Club Fundraising Golf Outing Committee, a charity event to benefit the Redhawks, slated for Mon., June 11, at the Links at Carillon.
