Weekend Commuter Parking Lot update for this weekend

-

Upper Burlington and Parkview Commuter Lots to close for weekend work

Scheduled maintenance will close the Upper Burlington and Parkview commuter parking lots near the Naperville Metra Station the weekend of June 9 and 10 while work is being performed as part of the City’s Municipal Parking Lot Improvement Project.

Both lots will be closed to all public parking, including those with Amtrak parking permits for the Upper Burlington lot. Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate parking; a map of commuter parking options is available on the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us/commuterparking.aspx. All areas under construction will be reopened the Monday morning following the weekend work.

Amtrak patrons seeking parking for the weekend of June 9 and 10 are advised to use the nearby Lower Burlington parking lot for short-term parking if they will return by Fri., June 15. However, if an Amtrak user will also be parked in the lot for the weekend of June 16-17, they will need to contact the City of Naperville Commuter Call Center at (630) 305-5330 to identify a location where they can park because the Lower Burlington lot will be closed for maintenance the weekend of June 16-17.

In addition to the Upper Burlington parking lot, repaving will continue June 9 and 10 on the west side of the parking lot at the Route 59 Metra Station north of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. The Route 59 lot will be repaved in sections over a series of weekends in June, weather permitting. The most updated map showing the location of the areas that will be closed each weekend is located at www.naperville.il.us/commuterparking.aspx.

Crews will also be patching areas of the Kroehler and Lower Burlington lots, causing temporary closures in each lot. Detailed maps showing closures in each lot are posted on the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us/commuterparking.aspx.

Pedestrian access to the train stations is not anticipated to be affected nor will the Metra schedules or stations be affected by the construction. All construction is weather dependent; notice of schedule changes as well as more information about the project will be posted to the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us/commuterparking.aspx, in the City’s Commuter Connection eNewsletter, in the local media when possible and in both train stations prior to and during construction.

Maintenance is being performed on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of June in the Route 59 Metra Station, Kroehler, Fourth Avenue, Park View, Upper Burlington and Lower Burlington parking lots. The Municipal Parking Lot Improvement Project includes maintenance work at 20 City-owned parking lots that range from minor work such as sidewalk replacement, curb and gutter replacement and patching to major repair work such as resurfacing and seal coating.

The parking lots are located throughout Naperville and include seven fire stations, four downtown lots, six commuter lots, the Naperville Police Department, Electric Service Center and Springbrook Water Reclamation Center.

Construction on all lots is slated for completion by October 2012.
