Naperville League of Women Voters to hold annual meeting

-

The Naperville League of Women Voters will hold its Annual Meeting beginning at 6PM Wed., June 20, at the White Eagle Owners Club.

“This meeting is like a local convention,” wrote Pat Barnes in the May issue of the LWV monthly newsletter. “Each year we affirm our support for our program positions, direct or move to make changes. We adopt a budget, review our by-laws, and elect new board members to continue the League’s work for democracy right here in Naperville.”

The cost is $25 per person. Guests are welcome. A cash bar with appetizers will be available, too.

New this year is a silent auction to raise funds to augment the league’s budget and extend activities. Members will be asked to help secure donations for the auction to help fund the many programs the LWV offers Naperville citizens. Local citizens and businesses are welcome to make a donation by contacting LWV President Jane Barnes at (630) 820-0255.

Reservations are required by Wed., June 13. Simply send a check for the dinner to: Bev Parker, 1330 Deep Run, Naperville, IL 60540.

For more information or to reserve a spot, call Joan Norman at (630) 355-2795, email jbarnes114@ntsource.com, or visit www.lwvnaperville.org.

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
