Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club awards scholarships

The Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club named two recipients of the 2012 Scholarship Award Program at a luncheon Tuesday at Meson Sabika.  This year’s recipients are Kristin Rafferty and Kunal Kochar.

Students applying for this year’s scholarship have to be graduating from a high school in School Districts 203 or 204, have maintained a cumulative 3.0 GPA and have demonstrated leadership and community service.  The winning students each received $1000 that can be applied towards their college tuition.

Rafferty will be graduating from Naperville Central High School and will be attending Marquette University to study nursing.  Kochar will be graduating from Neuqua Valley High School and will be attending the University of Pennsylvania to study business.

The Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club began in 1999 and is a community organization that welcomes both newcomers and long-time residents who want to meet other people through educational, social and charitable activities.   The club has raised  $12,000 this year and donated it to 8 local charities.

Congratulations to this year’s scholarship winners.  For more information visit napervillenewcomersandneighborsclub.com.
