Three-day community rummage sale will raise funds for student activities
Naperville Central High School will host “The Great Redhawk Resale,” a three-day community rummage sale slated for May 31-June 2 to raise funds to support Student Activities.
Organized by NCHS Band Boosters Association to benefit programs for Band, Spirits Color Guard, POMs, Speech as well as other groups, the event will be staffed by student and parent volunteers from the various activities programs. The community is welcome to both donate and attend.
The event will be held at the Naperville Central High School Cafeteria from 9AM-9PM Thurs., May 31 and Fri., June 1; and from 9AM-3PM on Sat., June 2. The high school is located at 440 W. Aurora Ave.
Donated gently used items will be accepted by the Naperville Central High School Loading Dock on Porter Street from noon to 4PM on Sat., May 19, Sun., May 20, Sat., May 26 and Sun., May 27.
According to Lynne Nolan, Student Activities Director for Naperville Central High School, the objective with The Great Redhawk Resale is to have a fundraiser in which students can play a large role to support their student activities programs. The funds raised will be used to augment the funding provided by the school district for Student Activities and enable student activities groups to travel to competitions.
The funds also will provide student scholarships based on financial need to increase student participation and assist with the purchase of equipment and supplies to improve the quality of their programs, Nolan added.
“This event has the potential to be a huge win for everyone as parents and community participants can donate used goods to a great cause,” said Paul DeKruiff, President of the NCHS Band Boosters Association. “Students can work on their own behalf as well as for the ancillary charities that might benefit from excess donations. We are excited about all the support the school has offered to make this happen and look forward to a successful event”.
