My Favorite Things

In a world filled with an endless stream of tasks, responsibilities, interruptions and obligations, it is often difficult to focus on the things that put joy into our lives.  Somewhere between the bill paying and the car pooling, there has to be that moment when we stop and smell the roses or savor a crisp apple strudel.  Maybe now is the time to make yourself a priority by scheduling an uplifting escape that offers irresistible fun!

For the second consecutive year, the After Hours Film Society presents the Sing-A-Long Sound of Music at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland, Downers Grove, at 4PM on Mon., May 14. The proceeds from this program will fund the organization’s annual student film festival scheduled for Mon., Oct. 22.

For those of you who are not familiar, the Sing-A-Long Sound of Music is a screening of the classic Julie Andrews musical in glorious, full-screen Technicolor, complete with subtitles so that the whole audience can sing along.  Attendees are given complimentary “magic moment packs” containing various props to be used at strategic points throughout the film. Though it is not mandatory, participants are encouraged to come in costume and compete in the fancy-dress competition.

This smash hit show has become an international phenomenon. Having started in the UK in 1999, the Sing-a-Long Sound of Music show has become a worldwide hit, playing to packed houses in over 9 different countries.  So why not join the thousands of people who have experienced the pleasure of being a part of a Hollywood sensation.  Warm up your vocal chords and get ready to sing-a-long to the most successful movie musical of all time.
