Dancers ages 9-21 are invited to audition for placement into one of three companies within Naperville’s Élan Dance Company for the 2012-2013 season. Auditions will take place on May 15, 2012 in Room 123 at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, located at 305 W. Jackson Ave.

Audition times are as follows:

  • Junior Company (ages 9-12) 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
  • Apprentice Company (ages 12-15) 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
  • Senior Company (ages 14 -21) 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Dancers who may fit within either of two companies may audition for both. Auditioning students should dress for a dance class.  No registration is necessary; dancers may simply report to the audition room at the appropriate time.  Questions may be directed to Avery Sipla, Dance Coordinator, who may be reached at 630-848-3618 or at asipla@napervilleparks.org. Audition results will be sent by mail.

Élan Dance Company is a pre-professional, regional dance company founded in 1996 by the Naperville Park District. Élan provides dancers an entry point into dance performance, allowing dancers to use movement as an expressive art.

Highlights of Élan’s 2011-2012 season included performances at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City, the Chicago Toy and Game Fair, the Fox Valley Showcase, and numerous community venues.  The Company’s annual Showcase on March 17 featured original choreography in multiple dance genres, including pieces by five Élan Company members.

Élan Dance Company is supported, in part, by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council. This grant enables the Company to fund creative choreography by Illinois artists and to extend its performances to include outreach to audiences that otherwise might not experience the art of creative dance.
