Prairie Children Preschool to teach students the history of Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). The date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, and to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War. District 204’s Prairie Children Preschool will celebrate on May 3 at 9 am and 12 pm. The celebration will include a parade, food, music, piñatas, and costumes unique to Mexico.
