Naperville Park District Hosted 12-inch Softball Tournament

-

12 teams battled for championship at Frontier Sports Complex April 21-22

Twelve men’s softball teams competed in the Naperville Park District’s annual Tommy Nevin’s Pub Spring Tune-up 12” Softball Tournament April 21-22.  Tommy Nevin’s Precision scored a decisive win over Tommy Nevin’s Goodwood to clench the championship.

Following pool-play on Saturday, four Tommy Nevin’s-sponsored teams made it through to the semi finals. On Sunday morning, with a strong northeast wind blowing at Frontier Sports Complex, Tommy Nevin’s Goodwood upset Tommy Nevin’s KBI in the semi-finals by a score of 11-7 in an exciting game. KBI had finished 7th in the USSSA World Tournament last season and was favored to win the Tune-up Tournament this year.

In the other semi-final competition, Tommy Nevin’s Precision defeated Tommy Nevin’s Golf Invite 16-6. Tommy Nevin’s Precision is the defending ASA Class-B Champion, the first Illinois team ever to win that title.

In the finals, the Goodwood team seemed to run out of steam as Precision won 12-0 to become the 2012 Tune-up Tournament Champions.
