Open Letter to the School District 203 Community,
During Monday evening’s Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Mark Mitrovich shared the following statement with the Board members and community present.
“I would like to make a statement this evening that has required considerable thought and personal reflection. I am announcing my resignation from the position of Superintendent effective June 30, 2012. This is a personal decision made in conjunction with my family. I’d like to acknowledge the Board of Education for its dedication and role in leading this school district.
I’d like to take a moment to thank the outstanding administrative leadership in this District, and the teaching and educational staff who are innovative, nurturing and committed professionals and who dedicate themselves to the children every day.
I’d also like to acknowledge all the volunteers and the members of this community who so willingly support the education of all children in the District. There is no better example of this than the people who served on the Enrollment Capacity Study committee. And to the families who entrust their children to us, I thank them for showing their faith in the schools and the leadership and for being true partners with us. You are an amazing group of people.
This is a remarkable district and community. I thank you for the time I have been able to serve you.”
Following the reading of the announcement, Board President Mike Jaensch stated:
“We are deeply saddened at this news, but we wish Mark nothing but the best in his future endeavors. As a Board we feel confident in moving forward because of the administrative team Mark has assembled over the past few years. It is one of the finest in the state, if not the country… They will be absolutely essential to our success in the future.
As a community we truly recognize the importance of great leadership in a Superintendent. We’ve had that for many years now and we intend to continue that. We will be thorough, we will be thoughtful, and we will be diligent in finding our next true leader.”
Additional information concerning next steps will be determined by the Board of Education and announced to the community when they are available.
