Activity Description: In the summer we get an increased volume of teenagers and have on some occasions had to limit the amount of teens we accept into our hospital program to ensure everyone who was participating had a good experience. We have lots of opportunities throughout the year for volunteers to spend time at our hospital doing a variety of activities including working in our gift Shops, transporting patients, delivering flowers and newspapers, way finding, etc.

Most of our volunteers spend one, three hour shift per week with us, many do more, we are flexible.

The Wise Penny Resale shop is a great place for mothers and daughters, fathers and sons to spend time together while working for a great cause as the proceeds from the shop help support the CDH auxiliary scholarship fund along with many other community benefit projects.  Even if folks cannot

make time in their busy lives to volunteer, they can help by donating lightly used household items, clothing and furniture to the shop.  Those with a love of organizing can organize a neighborhood donation drive. The PennyWise Shop is located 120 N. Main St., in Wheaton

Naperville Ribfest
Ribfest is not only a fun event for families, but also a great way for residents to give back to their community.  Since the start of Ribfest eighteen years ago, the Exchange Club of Naperville has raised over $5 million dollars, which was given back to the Naperville community charities.

Ribfest is an opportunity for individuals, families, school groups, churches, community organizations, and businesses to volunteer. The event will be held July 1st through July 4th in Knoch Park.

Volunteers are needed to serve beverages, assist in the identification tents, help in the children's play area, distribute information at the entrance gates, serve as parking attendants, assist in the cleanup of the grounds, and support the merchandising tent. There are many opportunities for all ages. Volunteers should plan on working an entire shift, and should wear comfortable clothing.

Raising Spirits
(www.raisingspirits.org) We’ll be holding a Family 5K walk at the Brookfield Zoo in September and we’ll need families to sign up and acquire sponsors. No age requirements - we think it would be a great way for children to help children, to make them realize that they too can make a difference in the lives of children battling cancer.  Visit our website at www.raisingspirits.org. for more information on how our fundraisers are helping us to support these amazing children and their families.
