Mark Twain was correct when he noted, "He was as shy as a newspaper is when
referring to its own merits."

That's why we appreciate what our readers are saying about Positively Naperville!

Sure appreciate PN support of NAHC.

If possible, I would dearly love to have 7 copies of your June issue. You published a picture of the Naperville Racquet Club swim team on which our 7 children swam. What a great picture and trip down memory lane!
---Ann Malone
P.S.  I would be happy to pick them up somewhere

Thanks again for your article (August) about our Puma Gold Cup soccer tournament on Labor Day Weekend.  We appreciate the coverage.  Our registration is now closed, brackets have been posted and schedules are being finalized. This will be a very large soccer event in Naperville.  We hope you will cover our tournament in the Positively Naperville.
---Jane Wernette, 428-3761, www.NationalSoccerRanking.com

Keep up the great work with PN.
---Jane E. Abe, Vice President, Membership,
Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce

I got a big chuckle out of the editorial about the free coffee at Casey's!  Ed Channell DOES have a good sense of humor.  Wonder if Casey's free coffee sales (?) went up because of Ed's comments?  I'll have to stop in for my free coffee there!
---Bev Patterson Frier

I would love a copy of the July issue because my daughter's picture was in it with the kids from High Meadow who washed cars for charity. Would it be possible for me to order a copy? Is there a fee for this issue?  Thank you.
---Barbara Powers

Thank you so much for putting our information on your website. ...I very much appreciate your help and support.
---Karen White, Paige Nicole White Pediatric Cancer Foundation

We had our summer coffee on Monday and it was well attended even though we were in the midst of that storm.  Thank you for getting the word out.

Here is the information for our upcoming September Kick-Off Coffee (Tuesday, September 13th from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the 95th Street Library.) Note the new location this year.  We're excited about trying the new space and think the attendees will enjoy it as well.

Thank you for your continued support.
---Sue Maloney, NNNC Publicity, 904-5629

Once again Positively Naperville printed a news release about the Naperville Big Band concert on Thursday, July 21, at the Naperville Community Concert Center. The outcome, a larger than expected audience, was in attendance. It was a great night of big band music, and all seemingly had fun. Thanks again for your PN support!

You have a great community newspaper.
---Ken Kalina, Director, NMB Big Jazz Band

Loved the July issue of PN! The children were so very excited about their picture being in the paper for KidsMatter Salutes!  I truly feel that I "learn" a lot about our community that I would never learn otherwise if not for your paper.
---IdaLynn Wenhold, KidsMatter

Just wanted to tell you that we enjoyed seeing ourselves next to Clyde (Netzley) on his bike. Very flattering picture and we have been receiving copies in the mail from friends and others who have dropped them off at our door. Great fun!  Your P.N. paper is well read and enjoyed by a lot of people.......Thanks.
---Peg and Norris Yonker

I don't have the answers to the question about the Cee Bee's Food's store photo, but my wife and I did a double-take when we saw what appeared to be our 1973 Dodge Polara Custom in the photo (Car show sponsored by Carriage Club of Naperville).  Upon a closer look however, it doesn't appear to have a front window vent like our Polara Custom.

However, we did shop at Cee Bee's during that era in our Polara (light green with dark vinyl roof, which the one in the photo seems to have).  Even more surprisingly, we still have the car, which in the past I took to old car shows.  I would like to sell it to someone who would want to restore it, as I hardly drive
it anymore.
---David Cook

Just a personal note to let you know that there is a new Publicity Chairman
for the Cress Creek Garden Club. ... I just want you to know how much I appreciate you covering our news items. Our whole club thinks (PN is) wonderful!
---Marge Mead, Former Publicity Chairman for the Cress Creek Garden Club

My July PN came yesterday and it was great!  I have read almost all of it.  We are working on the Nostalgia Pics for the 175th celebration.
---Sue Schofield

Enjoyed the pic in Positively Naperville of bundled up gardeners on the Riverwalk; weren't we complaining about the cold just a couple months ago?  We folks in the nether regions (University Heights) got a copy delivered to the front door this month!
---Ron Ory

Many thanks for running the press release (July PN) for our Summer Car Raffle.
The club really appreciates your support.   Have a good 4th of July.
---Mike Hollman, Naperville Noon Lions Club

Editor's Note:  The Naperville Noon Lions Club Car Raffle is now in progress with the drawing at the Jaycees Last Fling on Labor Day.  For tickets, visit www.napervillenoonlions.org.)

Thanks for all you have done and are doing for us at Philip R. Cousin AME Church.  I love your new look to the PN Website; it is very rich with information for the community.  I tell you, when I want to know something about Naperville your website is the first thing that comes to my mind and it is very helpful to me, thank you for that.
---Pastor Barbara Ross, Philip R. Cousin AME Church.

Hey - it has been a long time - hope you are well.  PN continues to look as great as ever - thanks...  My husband and I enjoy keeping up with the Naperville news!
---Terry Johnson, Founder of Young Actors Ensemble

Thank you very much for putting the pictures of Bud in PN (50 years of Naperville Baseball League/June 2005) - he loved it!  Also thanks for the picture of me and Sandy Benson at the NEF breakfast.
---Lori Montgomery

Is there any way I can get a copy of the photo you placed in the paper (June PN)?  Do I need to write to a certain address?  I would like a copy for my daughter's Girl Scout Scrapbook.  And maybe one for myself.  I got a kick out of being at the foot of the troll. My family has funny stories about Troll Dolls.  It brought back childhood memories of Troll wars between siblings.
I have had several people approach me that they saw the picture.  Who would have thought that a small picture would get attention?  But it has. I think it is that the Troll draws the eye.
Thanks again.
---Susan Panther

Many parents I have seen, have commented on Todd Channell's cute comment (June PN)...so they are reading POSITIVELY NAPERVILE.
---Bev Eigenberg, Creative Nursery School

I received Positively Naperville today.  Thanks for including our school (Naperville Christian Academy) so promptly in the listing of schools, and for including our recitation information in the calendar.
---Lilah Rabe

Thanks on behalf of Community First for the great article this month. Thanks, too, for mentioning my work and showing some pictures.
---Bob Lee

As you may remember, Major Crowley from MWSS 472 was headed to Iraq.  Well, he has arrived and great news, has been promoted to Lt. Col.  Here is the email I received today:
Hope all is well in my old stomping grounds of Naperville. I've been in Iraq for two weeks and so far I love it....If you have any old care package items laying around I can unload them over here. We also have a program where we give Iraqi children items such as school supplies, small kids sun glasses, baseball hats... I may move in the near future to another base but my partner will be here and he can forward some items. I'll let you know if I move. I'm currently at Camp Fallujah right across the Euphrates River from where the Battle of Fallujah was faught.
---Major General Johnson, Commanding General of Marine forces in Iraq promoted me the other day.  My address:  LtCol Tim Crowley, MCCLL - Field Historian, II MEF FWD, II MHG, Unit 73920, FPO AE 09509-3920.

My new email starting today is:  CrowleyTM@cemnf-wiraq.usmc.mil. Thanks again for all your hard work with Operation Dragons!!!

His timing is great - so many have asked about how we can continue to support our troops.  You can send it directly.... Thanks for your support.
---Donna M. Levigne

Just wanted to say I got a kick out of "Ed's Many Hats" in June's Positively Naperville, and wanted to share a similar story. Years ago, we had something sort of like a clapper (you know – “clap on! clap off!”) but it had a little remote unit that you squeezed and it made a whistling sound that shut off the lights. I was working in the room, and my husband was in another room, aimlessly humming and whistling, and sure enough, he happened on the right pitch that shut off the lights!
Good luck with your fax language training!
---Kate Gingold, Gnu Media Design Company

I admire your dedication. Positively Napeville is really a wonderful publication.  People compliment it all the time to me.
---Ginger Boyce, Naperville Tennis Club

Many thanks for the excellent coverage which you gave us in the May issue of PN.  We will hope that your help with publicizing the plant sale (Sat., May 14 at the Garden Plots) will override the problems that the weather may bring us.
---Eleanor Holt, Naperville Community Gardeners

Editor's Note: On May 12, chilling temperatures hovered around 45 degrees on the rainy spring day!

This year, the Naperville Area Humane Society joined with many local area restaurants to celebrate “Be Kind to Animals” Week.  During this time, these businesses donated a percentage of their proceeds to support the many programs and services of the Naperville Area Humane Society...  Please join with me in thanking these restaurants (Baskin Bobbins, Brickhouse Pizzeria, Dunkin Donuts, Jimmy’s Charhouse, Meson Sabika, Quigley’s Irish Pub, the Spaghetti Warehouse, Traverso’s and Walker’s Charhouse) for their generosity and support of their community.
---Linda L. Linford, Executive Director, Naperville Area Humane Society

I enjoy your newspaper very much.  I noticed in the May issue that you had a section called "Area Schools by the Numbers" on page 17.  The school that my children attend, Naperville Christian Academy, was not included in the listing.  I handle publicity for the school... I was wondering if I could contact whoever provided the information and have Naperville Christian Academy included to avoid future omissions.
---Lilah Rabe, Publicity, Naperville Christian Academy

Hey --- The phone has been ringing off of the hook after the kid's sighting (wearing orange U of I garb) in Positively Naperville.
---Jon Garland and the SOX  -- 103 - 59!

The MS walk was great. Our group collected over $17,000 which was one of the top producers in the entire region. I saw the article (about the Riverwalk) in Positively Naperville (May 2005).  Great. Actually the picture was really good, if I do say so. Actually it is really easy to walk for MS when you realize your really walking for someone who use to walk. The Troll had a ball with everyone.

Another great issue of PN showed up on my doorstep today!  Great job, and I love all the color photos.
---Shirley Pace

Thank you for willingness to help promote volunteer causes throughout Naperville.  We are so fortunate to have such a high quality publication promoting our area.
---Kristen Reed, Junior League of Kane and DuPage Counties, Inc.

Thank you very much for posting our event on the web site. I really appreciate it.
I will certainly mark those deadline dates (For consideration, press releases are due by the 15th of every month for the next month's publication.) down to make sure to get them in sooner next time. Thank you again and have a wonderful day!
---Tim Wilsey, Director of Community Relations, Meadowbrook Manor

We picked up a copy of your paper at Meson Sabika this weekend. This is a great publication - very informative!
---Lauren Milligan, ResuMAYDAY

Your paper does a wonderful job of informing everyone about the happenings in Naperville.  I thought you might be interested in a very exciting fundraiser that benefits the schools in Naperville, that will be happening in May!
The 4th annual 5K Run/Walk for Reading will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, at Hill Middle School, 1836 Brookdale Rd.  Proceeds from this event will benefit the Jeanine Nicarico Memorial Fund for Literacy of the Naperville Education Foundation.  We encourage all family members to participate and enjoy a morning of fun and fitness!  To register visit www.signmeupsports.com or www.nicaricoliteracyfund.org.
---Pat Nicarico

Thank you for the very nice notice of our monthly meeting in the April issue of PN.  We do appreciate being included in your fine publication.  The Naperville Community Gardeners will meet on Monday, May 2, 2005, at 7 p.m. at John Greene Realty,  83rd Street and IL Hwy. 59.   The topic will be “Dealing with Grubs and Other Turf Problems.”  The speaker will be Dr. Fredric Miller, Professor of Horticulture at Joliet Junior College.
Information about our May 14 plant sale (at the Garden Plots) will follow.
---Eleanor Holt, The Naperville Community Gardeners

I just wanted to say thank you for including information in the March and
April issue about Stars of the Valleys (7:30PM, Sat., April 16). The Foundation sincerely appreciates your help in promoting their fundraising event.
---Janet Buglio, School District 204, District Coordinator, Communication Services

I wonder if it would be possible to receive a copy of a picture that ran in the January issue of your paper.  It is a picture of Barbara Heinz bringing Christmas presents to residents of Senior Home Sharing's Eagle House.  Senior Home Sharing is honoring Barb as a "Friend of the Year" (with Dave Martin of Russell Martin Carpets and Rugs) at an event on May 12 and we would love to present her with a copy of the picture.  Please let me know if this is possible -- and we'd be glad to pay any costs associated with duplicating/enlarging the photo. Thank you so much.
---Rochelle Corso, Marketing/Public Relations Director, Senior Home Sharing, Inc.

Today (April 4) was the last official Welcome Coffee of the season, and it was a great success.  Thank you all for your continued support.  You have made a difference in the lives of women and couples who are looking to fit into our community.  Our membership is now at 384. We'll be having a summer coffee on Monday, July 25, and our Kick-Off coffee on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at White Eagle Owner's Club.  For those families moving into the area in the next few months, would it be possible to run a small blurb to keep us visible?  We do accept new members year round and many of our activities continue during the summer. On behalf of the Naperville Junior Woman's Club, many thanks for the GREAT coverage in the April 2005 issue of the Positively Naperville publication!
---Allison Delande

We really enjoy your informative publication.  I am the Administrative Assistant at All Saints Catholic Academy in Naperville.  It is the first new Catholic Elementary School in the Diocese of Joliet since 1962.  It has been a wonderful and exciting adventure... We have taken over the former Calvary Christian School property at 1155 Aurora Ave. Our new school is opening this coming August, 2005.  We would be thrilled to be included in your Area Schools by the Numbers feature.  Our phone number is 961-6125.  We have approximately 300 students enrolled for this coming fall; however we are still accepting registrations.  We will have grades Pre-School 3 year olds up to 8th Grade (our first year we will only be going up to Grade 5 and then will be adding a grade each year thereafter until we reach Grade 8).  If you have any further questions, I would be more that happy to speak with you, as would our principal, Sandy Renehan.

---Patty Bajek, Administrative Assistant, All Saints Catholic Academy

Here is my guess for your photo indentification:  Walter Fredenhagen, Herb Matter, August Germann and Ben Piper.  Please let me know how close I am with these former members of the Naperville C.C.  I was grounds superintendent from 1960-1966 and played a lot of golf with Glen Darfler, Howard Cromer, Clyde Savage, Wib Waggonner, Otto Mark and a lot of other member while I was superintendent there. The picture brings back a lot of old memories.
---Art Benson, Sandwich, Illinois

Thanks for all your previous assistance on promoting the Authors Marketing Group and my novel.  Our group has changed its meeting location, as noted below. Any help in
forwarding this information for publication in Positively Naperville is greatly appreciated. Our next meeting will be on Thursday April 14 at 6:45 PM at the Woodridge Public Library, located at 3 Plaza  Drive in Woodridge.
---James T. Durkin (Jim), Author "In My Dreams" and Co-founder "Authors Marketing Group"

Editor's Note: This organization is the Authors Marketing Group that formerly met at Barnes and Noble Bookseller in Downtown Naperville.

Dear Positively Naperville, Thank you for forwarding the winner who correctly identified the passengers in the "Buggy Ride" photo. How fun it was! I can't wait for another old photo to appear. We had a call this morning from a former client who saw the photo and wanted to know if we had a winner. I am sending you a copy of the letter we sent to Mr. Walter Hagemann. I called him to congratulate him and we had a nice visit over the phone. Thanks again for your wonderful paper. It brings on many smiles and lots of good will.
---Gene Darfler, Gene Darfler, Inc.

Editor's Note: According to Gene Darfler, his dad, Walter Darfler, always said Walter Hagemann was "the best caddie at Naperville Country Club." Hagemann won a $50 gift certificate to Raffi's in Fifth Avenue Station for correctly identifying Walter Darfler, Herb Matter, Ralph (Hunk) Ballou and Dick Manning.

I can't begin to thank you enough for all the great publicity you have given the Naperville Evening Kiwanis Club.  As you know, our Pancake Festival and Peanut Days are our major fund-raisers and we all appreciate your getting the word out to the community for us.  I love your publication. There are always very interesting things about Naperville, its residents and surrounding area to learn. Also, thank you again for the great caricature of our four "flippers."  Hope to see you on March 19 at the Pancake Festival.
---Millie Mika, Assistant Treasurer, Naperville Evening Kiwanis

I just wanted to write and thank you for your coverage of our recent seminar with DuPage P.A.D.S. I heard from one of our committee members today that an article had ran this week about it.   Currently, the Foundation does not subscribe to Positively Naperville, but I was wondering if there was somewhere I could go on-line to view the article. Also, we would definitely be interested in arranging for a subscription.  Could you please advise about whom I should contact to arrange this? Thanks so much.  We appreciate your continued interest in The DuPage Community Foundation and our communities' not-for-profits!
---Michael R. Sitrick, Manager of Development, The DuPage Community Foundation

Editor's Note:  Subscriptions with zip codes 60540, 60563, 60564 and 60565 are $25/year.  All other zip codes are $35/year. Simply send name and address with payment to: Positively Naperville, 931 W. 75th, Suite 137/219/ Naperville, IL  6-565. Thank you
.
Thanks.  Web site looks great.
---Ginger Boyce, Naperville Tennis Club

Editor's Note: Boyce responded to the live action tennis ball
feature by creative Web site Master, Becky Simon.

Thanks... the picture and article was great on our 50's party.  It was a HUGE success with over 200 people attending!
---Francine C. Myers, Director of Community Relations, Independence Village of Naperville

Dear PN,
Thanks for your support of our Strong Kids Campaign. Our campaign has a target of raising $400,000 for fee assistance by March 25. Every dime we raise goes directly toward helping children and their families, financially unable, to now attend our summer camps, the before and after school programs, or just play basketball in one of our branches.

To help our campaign, anyone can stop by any branch of the Heritage YMCA and make a donation to the campaign as well as pick up one of our red Strong Kids Bracelets. These unique red bracelets are an outward sign of the community's support.

We invite everyone to join us in this campaign and help us meet our commitment of helping parents build strong kids through strong community support.

---W. Hunter Byington

I found your picture most interesting. (February PN / Buggy Ride 1940 / Naperville Nostalgia.) My guess for the 4 people are:  Walter Fredenhagen, Walter Darfler, Herb Matter, and Phil Flynn. I am looking forward to the results in the next edition of the paper.  Thank You.
---Mildred Eisele, St. Patrick's Residence

Editor's Note:  Ms. Eisele is close, but no cigar ---or rather no $50 gift certificate to Raffi's! More clues will be in the March issue unless someone comes up with all four identities by Feb. 25.  According to Gene Darfler who submitted the photo, all the people who have guessed to date have been incorrect!  Thanks to Ray Kuhn, Tom Drendel, Mary Abe and Beverly Esser for trying.

Here's the notice about our club’s March meeting---the Naperville Community Gardeners will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 7, at John Greene Realty, Highway 59 and 83rd Street.  By the way, I took copies of PN to our meeting on Monday night (I always point out Pam’s column to the group) and several people took them.  Many others said that they get it at home... Great job!
---Eleanor Holt, Naperville Community Gardeners

Thanks for the February Issue of the PN.  God bless you...
---Barbara Ross, Pastor, Philip R. Cousin AME Church, In the Old Nichols Public Library AKA Truth Lutheran Church, 110 S. Washington Street

As former Napervillians, we were excited to receive a call from our daughter-in-law in Naperville concerning your article in "Positively Naperville" that mentioned you were on your way to Sarasota. She really likes your upbeat articles. As time goes by, an increasing number of friends and acquaintances from Naperville are either settling here or just visiting. It seems that they all enjoy the Sarasota area as we do. It's good to know that you are in town - welcome to paradise.
---Wendell and Beverly Savino

Editor's Note:  The above letter is a response to "Ed's Many Hats" by Ed Channell.

Operation Dragons has sent out 40 boxes to the Marine Unit, 2nd Battalion 24th Marines. We also were able to provide an almost equal amount to an Army Unit from Mokena as well as donate several boxes of supplies to Ralph Gebes who is working with other Marines who are stationed in Iraq.  Job well done and I have all of you to thank. Listed below is a web link that is about the Marine Unit we just sent the 40 boxes to.  I thought you'd be interested in learning about who they are and what they are doing in Iraq. :http://www.marines.mil/marinelink/mcn2000.nsf/lookupstoryref/200512561942

Sheila Long e-mailed me to let me know that St. Raphael Jr High group  just sent them 5 boxes (over 200lbs)  and 260 letters this week.  I know that Major Sullivan will be thrilled when the boxes start to arrive.
---Donna M. Levigne

What kind of topics do you cover in Positively Naperville.  Do you take unsolicited ideas/articles?  I look forward to your reply.
---Deirdre Brown, www.eldercaresolutions.com

Editor's Note:  PN welcomes press releases (250 words or less) about special events, fund-raisers, nonprofit organizations, club meetings, new jobs, new businesses, etc., that enhance the quality of life in Naperville.

On Thursday, February 17 at 6PM, Rock Bottom will be tapping a new beer called "Argus".  This beer is named after the brewmaster's dog.  The Naperville Humane Society will be receiving a percentage of the sale of this brew.  I hope you all can attend and support NHS and thank Rock Bottom for all their support over the last three years.  Thanks, if you can attend, please let me know.
---Linda L. Linford, Executive Director, Naperville Humane Society, lindal@mail.napervillehumanesociety.org, website:  www.napervillehumanesociety.org

Thank you very much for the articles about Loaves & Fishes! I also want to thank you for the Naperville Education Foundation Yuks for Youth (Sat., March 12, Holiday Inn Select) in PN as that is my other passion!  We really need this event to be successful to raise money for the elementary study skills academy, and we hope to expand it to the junior highs and high schools as well.
Thanks again for everything.
---Lori Montgomery

Nice Positively Naperville issue!  Again!
---Jini Clare, Clare Communications

---Tripp Burton, Young Actors Ensemble, A Teaching Theatre Company, trippyae@hotmail.com

Just wanted to thank you for including our Welcome Coffee information in your publication.  We appreciate it very much.  Our next big event is our Spring Fashion Show, Tues., April 12.  We hope you will include this in an upcoming edition of Positively Naperville.

---Thanks, Sue Maloney, Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club

Editor's Note:  The Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club hosts monthly Welcome Coffees at the Municipal Center at 10:30AM on the first Monday of the month. For information, call Paula at 922-8211 or Sue at 904-5629. Professional daycare provided for monthly  luncheons.

I was reading through the Positively Naperville newspaper and WOW I saw the "New Year's Resolutions" article you wrote!  Way to go!  You're in print!  You're famous!  At the end of the article in the bio. section it mentioned that you're on the yearbook staff - and more to come.  I know you play soccer, run cross country, you've started lacrosse, (probably do track in the Spring) - and now to hear that you're on the yearbook staff AND write for Positively Naperville -  you're one busy lady!  What's this "more to come" comment? You know there are only 24 hours in a day. Keep up the good work!
---Ed Poole (for all)

Thanks for producing such a great newspaper.
--Gail Koford, CareLink Foundation

While browsing through the January 2005 edition of  Positively Naperville I ran across a friend's name from the past, and after seeing his picture with Mayor Pradel I realized that this is the same Jim Weren I know from our old Montclare neighborhood in Chicago.  I would appreciate if you would be kind enough to pass along this e-mail to Jim for me. I'd sure like to say hello.  Thank you.
---Patricia (Kraak) Niewidok

Thanks for all your help. If you want, I can link your site from my website. Thanks again for your wonderful contribution to this effort.

I visited your website - very cool. Looks like a great place to live.
Best regards,
---Lew Sherwood, Vice-President, Miller Branding + Communication, Pennington, NJ

Thank you all so much for the support you have provided throughout the year.  As a small not-for-profit, we depend on the local media to help us create awareness for our organization and promote the wonderful work we do here.  Your work in that effort has been tremendous and we are grateful.  ...May you have a happy holiday season and may all good things come to you, now and always.
---Linda L. Linford, Executive Director, Naperville Humane Society

Just wanted to let you know that our January Welcome Coffee will be on Monday, January 10, 2005, instead of the 3rd, because of the holiday.  The February, March and April coffees will be the usual first Monday of the month.  We have not made a decision about hosting a coffee in May or mid summer.  I'll keep you posted. We appreciate being included in your publication and will continue to let you know if there are any updates or special events your readers may be interested in.
---Sue Maloney, Naperville Newcomers and Neighbors Club

Another great issue (December) of Positively Naperville! Thank you for the nice presentation of the picture and the ad.
All the best,
---Veronica Porter, Porter Presentations, porterpresents@wowway.com

I just wanted to take a minute and say thank you for the fabulous
coverage you gave Naper Settlement in the December issue of Positively
Naperville. WOW!! ... Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you.
Regards,
---Jody Ellyne,  Naper Settlement

I truly second Jody's comments. I read the (Dec.) issue last night
at home and it was wonderful - every page!  But, of course, with my
personal bias, I thought you did a fabulous job on the Settlement.
Thank you for this and all of your ongoing support!  It is much
appreciated.
---Peggy Frank, Executive Director, Naper Settlement

Thanks for all the support you provide for the veterans in Naperville.  It is much appreciated.  If our Naperville student (Bob Zimmerman, NCHS sophomore) does well in the district judging (of the Voice of Democracy Speech Contest) this weekend, we will send you another press release after we announce the district winners in early January.  I hope you have a great holiday season.
---Phil Maughan

The Remember, Remember, Remenber 11-11-11 and the poem on the front page (November issue) were great along with the colors you use and the layout of the paper. It is so much better than a big picture of a bunch of fat women doing aerobics on the front page with a Remember Veterans on the side. (Reference to another publication.) ,,, I love the calender inside and all the events of the month. I like the witty sayings and the "Kids Matter" all through it. I read it all. ... I also see the mayor is in there several times!!!! Ha-Ha! ...You are doing a great job.
Anyway, Happy Holidays to all of you and hope you have a good New Year.

Just received the latest edition of Positively Naperville... It's great to continue to see what great is always going on at "home."
---Marilyn and Glen Ekey, Surprise, Arizona

Your newspaper just gets better every month.  Congratulations!  Thank you for the opportunity to grow with you. I really enjoy contributing monthly.
---Barbara Dwyer, Bee Attitudes Columnist

Mesdames / Gentlemen:
I laughed quite lustily at the caption on the instrumental pictures at the top of Page 21 of the subject issue.  As anyone who has ever been near a band knows, a coronet is worn on your head; it is NOT played via a mouthpiece.  A small brass instrument that IS played that way is a cornet, or perhaps a trumpet...
---JR FANCHER

Editor's Note:  PN is alway happy to hear when readers laugh lustily!

Patti Koltes' article in the November issue of Positively Naperville really made me smile.  Thank you. I too make my kids lunches - there is a connection of hearts in that bag.  I have been laughed at and criticized for this labor of love as though I was crippling the growth and development of my children with each sack I made. Once in a while I stick a note inside to encourage them on a particularly stressful day and when I  find that note in their pants pocket or on their night stand I am grateful that I can make a difference.  (Yes even with my oldest who is a Senior at NNHS) I suspect that while the lunches won't be made when the 3 of them are at college a care package will be delivered every once in a while and yes a note or  two also. I like being a mom.  Lunches and all.
---Nancy Krunnfusz

Thanks for getting the info about Naper Squares into P.N.  We really appreciate your accuracy.  Also thanks from the Weed Ladies.  Next year we will have to play up the demonstrations more.  That is if we have them again.  Barbara of Barbara's Interiors has consented to another try next year. Just love the new logo for Young Actors Ensemble... And then there was the added bonus of the great article... Thank you for such great coverage... Tripp has already received a number of calls from people who had heard about it in Positively Naperville... Your reading audience is out there!!!
----Judy Burton

Really enjoyed this issue of PN!  What an array of positive news!  I also appreciated learning "a little history" about the Last Fling.  For those of us who joined the Naperville Family within the past 10 years, it is so very interesting to hear how these wonderful traditions started...and how the "family" is truly an integral part of its history.
---IdaLynn Wenhold, Kidsmatter@wideopenwest.com

Thank you for the article in Positively Naperville about the Parkinson Walk-A-Thon. (10AM, Sept. 11 at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion) ...We are looking forward to a great day and a super event.  Thank you for your time and for the help in getting people to learn more about Parkinson's Disease.
---Mary Anne Ostrenga, Co-Chairman, Stamp Out Parkinson's Walkathon

Pam's essay (The Straight Dirt by Pam Westfall) is delightful; I think that you've got a winner there.  She sets exactly the right tone, and she promises more of the same.  And the (Naperville Community Gardeners) club gets good publicity!  Thanks! ... I have read only part of the September issue of PN, but so far it is reading very well indeed.
----Eleanor Holt

I wanted to say hi and thank you for all the great press you provide. I just finished a cover to cover reading of your Sept. issue and it's just jam-packed with terrific stories, photos, etc. ... Best wishes for continued success.
---Ginny Richardson, President GR-PR
