Thoughts for the day and week!
2010 Mayor’s Golf Outing on Sept. 13 will celebrate 30 years of giving back to local charities
When local residents step up to the tee on Mon., Sept. 13, 2010, they will help mark the 30th anniversary of the Naperville Mayor’s Golf Outing. This annual event was started in 1980 with Mayor Chet Rybicki and Bill Brestal of Dommermuth, Brestal, Cobine & West Ltd.

“This began as a means to allow the Mayor the opportunity to give back charitably throughout the year.  We felt a golf outing would be a fun way of doing that,” said Brestal in a press release.

The very first golf outing was held at Cress Creek Country Club with 125 golfers. Brestal remembers that “back then, it was all about friends and fun – we never cared if you could golf, as long as you were having a good time and giving back to our community.”

Today, all levels of golfers continue to be welcome. This year’s outing will be held at Springbrook Golf Course with an opportunity to golf in either the morning or the afternoon.

Thirty years later, Brestal’s office is still planning the outing. “We have a policy of always being involved and giving back to the community. We continue this tradition because it is a way for our employees to actively give through a fun, community event,” Brestal said.

“This day holds special meaning for me,” says Mayor George Pradel. “It really makes an impact on the charities that benefit from our outing. Over the years, Chet Rybicki, Peg Price, Sam Macrane and myself have had the honor of donating over $1.5 million to worthy causes. We couldn’t do that without the tremendous community support we’ve received through the years.”

This year, golfers will be swinging for DuPage Children’s Museum, Little Friends, Inc., Our Children’s Homestead, Safety Town, Samaritan Interfaith, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, and the YMCA’s Strong Kid’s Campaign.

Individuals and businesses can support this event either through golfing, sponsoring, or donating a raffle prize. For more information on the Mayor’s Golf Outing contact Dommermuth, Brestal, Cobine & West Ltd. at (630) 355-5800 or visit the Web site at www.mayorsgolfouting.org.
