Popular event will feature a wide variety of tree species
The Department of Public Works is hosting its annual Arbor Day Tree Sale from 7AM to noon on Sat., April 26, at the Public Works Service Center, 180 Fort Hill Drive.
The public will be able to select from a large variety of trees at tremendous savings for use in beautifying their yards and sustaining the environment. Many different tree varieties will be for sale, including various maples, crabapples and oaks.
A listing of the species available, along with prices and more information, can be found at www.naperville.il.us/arbordaytreesale.aspx.
Attendees may pay by cash or check, and all trees purchased must be removed by noon. Trees will be located inside the Public Works Service Center to avoid the public standing outside in the event of inclement weather. All trees available for purchase are container grown, so they are easier to transport than trees that are wrapped in burlap. Public Works employees will be on hand to help load trees into vehicles. No commercial sales will be allowed.
Morton Arboretum experts will also be at the event to answer tree questions, offer planting advice and distribute tree literature. The “Trees for Naperville – Tree Selection and Planting Guide” booklet will be available. This booklet can be found on the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us/treeguide.aspx.

Editor’s Note: Enjoy the structure and beauty of trees, especially now before they fill out with spring foliage. Also, on Arbor Day, remember the words of Warren Buffett: “Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.“
