This is the story of a happy boy growing up in Chicagoland’s South Side industrial neighborhoods. His early happiness was almost eradicated by several years of intense bullying, though he found ways to overcome that experience. This is the story of an aimless young man whose prospects of following in his father’s foot-steps as a blue-collar tradesman were cut short by the Vietnam War and by his personal search for something.

Sunday

The Producers – 1PM and 5:30PM | $36-$69
Paramount Theatre – 23 E Galena Blvd Aurora, IL 60506
Under the right circumstances, a producer could make more money with a flop than he could with a hit. And so begins one of the most hilarious cons in musical theatre history. Max Bialystock used to be the king of Broadway, but after producing one too many flops, hes now just a has-been forced into seducing little old ladies for money. After an off the cuff comment from his accountant Leo Bloom, dollar signs go off over his head (as well as beautiful girls wearing nothing but pearls). With the reluctant help from Bloom, Max goes in search of the worst musical ever. Will it be a flop? It better, or they might find themselves in prison. The Producers is an uproariously funny musical with hilarious songs that will have you grinning from ear to ear throughout. Now showing Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through March 17, tickets at paramountaurora.com.

Save room for Naperville restaurants all year long

With more than 300 eateries throughout Naperville at destinations north, east, west and south, one surely will whet your appetite. Find the complete listing at www.dinenaperville.com and be prepared for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner every day in 2019.

Always find a warm welcome at Meson Sabika, located at 1025 Aurora Ave., where Sunday brunch is another specialty and the Pavilion of Meson Sabika is right next door.

Plus, Naperville’s array of choices such as Meson Sabika also create many venues for meetings, bridal and baby showers, wedding receptions, anniversary celebrations, birthday parties, neighbor get-togethers and just about whatever reason you can imagine.

In fact, this week and through Election Day on April 2, local restaurants have created the place to be for many candidate “Meet & Greet” events and Election Night parties.

Also keep in mind that in addition to fast food establishments, even many of the popular full-service restaurants in Naperville offer take-out. Just ask.

Hospitality shows in Naperville

And here are a couple factoids for everyone who appreciates the local hospitality industry… Last week PN was notified that Naperville was recognized by Digital Third Coast as one of the best markets for risk-taking restaurateurs to open a restaurant, ranking No. 39 in the top 50 of the 236 cities selected for the survey across the U.S.

In a related note, Hotel Arista Hotel and Arista Spa & Salon at CityGate Centre retain Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating for the sixth consecutive year.

Think Dinner & the Show… Or Showdown…

Loaves & Fishes Community Services President/CEO Mike Havala welcomed guests to the 2018 Chef Showdown between Catch 35 and Hugo’s Frog Bar.

Click here to check out the 2018 Photo Gallery with dozens of pictures showcasing the fun, food and antics from the inaugural Chef Showdown that featured Catch 35 and Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House vying for bragging rights and the big trophy in a finish almost too close to call, some observers said.

The 2nd Chef Showdown hosted by Loaves & Fishes Community Services is set for 6PM to 9PM Wed., April 17, at Loaves & Fishes. This year’s cooking competition and fundraiser ($100 per person) will feature Chef Mark Grimes from Che Figata, located in CityGate Centre, and Chef Crispin Plata from Meson Sabika, located at 1025 Aurora Ave. Emcee Ray Kinney returns with the play-by-play from start to finish.

Bon appetite every day! Local dining matters!
