Senior Voices – Ride Assist Naperville

-

We are pleased to report the year’s progress of RAN (Ride Assist Naperville).

We gave our first ride on May 1 of this past year. By the end of 2017, we had taken 155 riders to their medical appointments. Many of those riders have had recurring appointments, so the total rides given is 365 round trips. We are thrilled to be serving so many seniors.

In order to keep up with the work, we have hired a program director who will take the calls. But bear in mind, all the rest of us donate our time including the drivers, and no tipping is allowed. We have 30 volunteer drivers, and could definitely use more – men or women. But the best part of all is that everyone is very happy! And, of course, we would be thrilled with donations, so we can continue to provide this valuable service.

We are really helping to make Naperville the “Senior Friendly City.”

Chuckle Time – Since February is Sweetheart month, here is something very romantic:

A senior woman was sitting on the patio with her husband of many years, sipping a glass of wine. She said, “I love you so much, I don’t know how I could ever live without you.” He said, “Is that you or the wine talking?” She said, “That’s me, talking to the wine.”
