Early morning structure fire leaves home uninhabitable

-

At 2:30AM Thursday morning, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident at the 600 block of Burning Tree Lane reporting a fire in their home. The occupant was alerted by the activation of the smoke detector. Naperville 911(PSAP) dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address which brought 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 fire personnel to the scene.

The first fire department units arrived on scene at 2:35AM and reported light smoke from the exterior of the structure. When fire personnel entered the structure they found light smoke and fire in the basement of the residence. A hose line was immediately advanced to the basement by the arriving fire suppression companies and a water source was secured. The fire was quickly extinguished and confined to the area of origin. Upon the arrival of additional fire companies, salvage and overhaul operations were performed. One adult resident evacuated from the structure prior to the Fire Department arrival. There were no civilian injuries reported. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the home was deemed uninhabitable. The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the occupants.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Electric Department (NED), Naperville Water Department and Nicor Gas Company. The Warrenville Fire Protection District and Wheaton Fire Department provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
