Naperville Police investigate suspicious incident near Showplace Drive

Naperville PoliceOn Tuesday, December 12, at approximately 3:20PM Naperville Police Department officers responded to the 2700 block of Showplace Drive for the report of a suspicious incident that had just occurred.

It was determined that an 11-year-old female, was approached by a maroon mini-van driven by a male white, who asked the child if she needed a ride.  The child fled the scene and police were notified, but were unable to locate the offender. 

The offender is described as follows:

Male white, approximately 60 years old, with a long black beard, wearing a red North Face jacket.

If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Naperville Police Department at (630) 420-6666 and ask for the Investigations Division.

The Naperville Police have asked us to share the following information with our community:

The Naperville Police would like to notify the community that at approximately 3:20PM an 11-year-old student got off a school bus in the 2700 block of Showplace and was approached by an unknown make and model maroon minivan. The driver of the van, a white male, approximately 60 years of age, with a long black beard, and wearing a red North Face jacket, asked the student, “Do you need a ride?” The student ran away and notified an adult who called the Police. The maroon van was seen turning northbound onto Route 59 from the area.

The Naperville Police Department is investigating the incident and wants to remind the public to contact the police immediately to report any suspicious people or activity. If anyone has any information related to this incident, please contact the Naperville Police at 630-420-6666.
