Video Voice – Year in review

-

As we close out 2017, NCTV17 closes the book on its 30th anniversary year. It’s been an exciting 12 months. Here are the Top 10 headlines:

  • We kicked off the year by launching, “Pearls of the Past,” a series of videos highlighting many of our town’s major events during NCTV17’s 30 years. To watch all 38, visit, www.nctv17.com/c/630-naperville/pearls-of-the-past.
  • In February, we produced an 80’s-themed episode of Game On! Dressed in the fashion fads of the 1980’s, our contestants brought down the house in Battle of the 30-Somethings. Fast forward to June and another round of contestants dressed in Cubs and Sox attire joined us at Center Stage Theater for Battle of the Neighborhoods: Northside versus Southside.
  • Working with the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce to reflect their new branding, NCTV17 launched a reformatted Inside the Chamber with President & CEO Nicki Anderson hosting a lively monthly panel discussion on a wide variety of business topics.
  • NCTV17 provided video support to both the State of the City and State of the Park District, helping share their important annual messages with the community.
  • The station live broadcast all the local parades celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, India Day, Labor Day and most recently the Parade of Lights through downtown.
  • Five high school interns and two college interns spent their summer getting hands-on training in the field of broadcasting.
  • • “Nominate Your Neighbor” was launched within (630) Naperville showcasing everyday people who are making a difference in their neighborhoods.
  • Allie Kalaeta became the first female anchor of Naperville Sports Weekly, joining the sports team for Season 11. And following up on the success of Naperville Now, we launched Football Fridays, a five-minute recap of all the high school football action and Sports Story Sunday, showcasing a wide variety of other community-based sports.
  • NCTV17.com went through a major upgrade making it even easier for viewers to find and watch the stories they want as well as shop for DVDs of their favorite programs and community events.
  • Finally, the station wrapped up the year by closing out our first capital campaign to raise $30,000 toward the purchase of HD studio cameras. Our sincere thanks to all those who contributed.

In the spirit of the giving season, we also want to thank the many local businesses who sponsor our programming and put their money toward supporting hyper-local community television. We couldn’t do it without you!

To all the PN readers, we hope you’ve enjoyed watching NCTV17 in 2017 and we look forward to telling more of your stories in 2018.

Happy Holidays!
