The ‘Most Wonderful Time of the Year’ seems to arrive earlier and earlier. For many, it’s a time for family, friends, and grand celebrations. That’s true of Little Friends, too. We’ve been preparing for the holidays for months… to ensure those we serve have the best experience possible and to offer our heartfelt thanks to the Naperville community that is so supportive of our mission.
Our annual Giving Trees program provides gifts and holiday meals for those in financial need and served by Little Friends. Over the course of several weeks, more than 20 businesses and organizations will fulfill nearly 1,000 gift requests for children and adults in our residential and school programs. If not for this kindness, many would not know the simple joys of the holidays.
The kindness of businesses and organizations goes beyond providing gifts. Clients in our residential program look forward to Thanksgiving Dinner at Meson Sabika. And this year, thanks to the Paramount Theater, nearly 150 students and adults in our programs will travel to Aurora to see Elf: The Musical, an opportunity not typically afforded our clients.
We owe thanks to many, and the best way we know to do that is to host one of our community’s beloved holiday traditions. The Little Friends Parade of Lights will occur at 7PM on Sat., Dec. 2, in downtown Naperville. Join our clients, staff, families, and friends for another great evening of brightly lit floats, holiday music, and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus!
Then, on Sun., Dec. 3, join in on the Downtown Naperville Alliance’s annual Holiday Cookie Walk. Enjoy shopping, and collecting cookies along the way, all to benefit Little Friends! Tickets are limited and will go on sale at the Downtown Naperville Alliance offices beginning Nov. 13.
Enjoy the hustle and bustle of the next several weeks; enjoy your families and friends, and know that because of the wonderful support of this community, many of clients are doing the same.
