Above / Help spread the word to the senior set that the Healthy, Wealthy & Wise 2017 Senior Conference will take place on Fri., Sept. 22, in the lower level at City Hall.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The City of Naperville and the Naperville and Lisle Townships Triad are pleased to present the Healthy, Wealthy & Wise 2017 conference for area senior citizens from 8AM to noon on Fri., Sept. 22, at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.

This informative conference is a free opportunity for independent living seniors to learn ways to enhance their quality of life from experts in various fields. The conference’s line-up of engaging speakers includes Julie Kenney of the United States Postal Inspection Services discussing how to avoid scams and offering insight into how the USPS conducts global investigations. Jenny Dawley, Director of Senior Services for Naperville Township, will address senior transportation options for residents, and Mahja Sulemanjee Bortocek of Greenhouse and Julia Afridi of Edward Elmhurst Health will give a presentation on alternative health therapies.

“For the last several years, the Triad has put together a program that provides attendees with the tools they need to live active, healthy lifestyles,” said planning committee chair Brian Foster. “This year’s program is no exception, and we can’t wait to welcome all of our 2017 attendees.”

In addition to the presentations, approximately 30 area organizations representing a variety of community senior services will showcase their products and offerings in the Lower Level Meeting Rooms of the Municipal Center. Students from the College of DuPage Nursing Program will provide free blood pressure screenings and a complementary lunch voucher will be given to registered participants (certain restrictions apply).

“There’s no shortage of fraudulent news and scams directed at the senior population and it can be difficult to find reliable, accurate information and resources,” Crime Prevention Specialist Julie Smith said. “This year’s conference is an excellent opportunity for our seniors to hear directly from experts on matters that impact their lives and explore resources that can help them lead safe and independent lives. There’s definitely going to be something for everyone who attends.”
