At the Naperville Y’s we believe our community is stronger when everyone feels welcome and we can all work together for the common good. Earlier this year the Y hosted an International Circle of Friends special event to celebrate the diversity of our community. This event was well attended and reminded us that we live in an ever changing world—a world that needs more acceptance and more opportunities for neighbors to connect, find common ground and to celebrate shared values. All for a better us. In September the Y will continue to support our strengthening community and diversity efforts by participating in Welcoming Week.
Welcoming Week is an annual celebration bringing together thousands of people and hundreds of local events across the country that celebrate the contributions of immigrants and refugees and the role communities play to foster greater welcome. Welcoming Week 2017 is September 15-24 across the country and now expanding to other parts of the world. The Naperville YMCAs will join Welcoming America and hundreds of YMCAs and other organizations nationwide in hosting events to celebrate contributions to the community and bring together residents in a spirit of unity. Activities during this week are open to the public and will be updated on our website, www.napervilleymcas.org and in our Centers.
