On Tuesday, Patricia “Patty” Gustin announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination to the DuPage County Board District 5, vying for the seat that will be left vacant by DuPage County Board Member Tonia Khouri (R-Aurora).  Khouri is running for state representative in the Illinois 49th State Representative District.

Gustin will run alongside incumbent District 5 Board Member Janice Marie Anderson (R-Naperville). District 5 serves portions of Naperville, Lisle, Warrenville, and Aurora.

“Residents tell me how they are fed-up with the national politics and negativity,” said Gustin in a written statement, noting local constituents expect much better from their local government leaders.

“They expect and deserve focus upon maintaining the strength of our communities and the values that brought all of us to DuPage County,” she continued.  “They are right, and that was my focus as Councilwoman.  We must strive to lower taxes through economic growth, reduce government costs through smart efficiencies that sustain the government services we deserve, stay focused on important local issues, and always deliver respectful representation.  That is my pledge.”

Gustin is a 25-year resident of County Board District 5, serving the Naperville and Lisle communities for more than 20-years.

Currently serving her first term on the Naperville City Council, Gustin previously was Chairwoman and member of the Naperville Planning and Zoning Commission. Before moving to Naperville, she was a member of the Lisle Zoning and Plan Boards.

Gustin is a Realtor-Broker, worked for the FDIC and the U.S. Department of Justice, and is a DePaul University graduate.

Gustin is married Greg. They have three adult children and two grandchildren.
