Naperville Municipal Band will perform rings around circus music July 20

-

Above / The Naperville Municipal Band continues its weekly concert series with “The Ringlings & The Circus,” featuring guest Andy Glover. The concert begins at 7:30PM Thurs., July 20, in Central Park.

Come to the concert, the greatest circus music on Earth!

When the big stage door goes up at 7:30PM Thurs., July 20, the Naperville Municipal Band will come full circle when it features an evening of circus and carnival music, dating back to the beginnings and the end of spectacular parades and daredevil acts experienced during the Ringling Brothers Circus.  Ringling Brothers performances and three rings of entertainment dazzled folks under the big top in America for 146 years, always accompanied by lively marches and galops while graceful artists performed high on the trapeze and much more.

“The Ringlings & The Circus” with guest Andy Glover, longtime conductor of fun-filled, lively sounds from the golden age of the circus, is sure to be a crowd pleaser, especially for all those folks who have been dancing in the park during recent Thursday evening concerts in Central Park.

“I’ll be wearing my Merle Evans uniform,” said Keller. “It was a gift from Merle Evans, a cornet player and circus band conductor who led the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus Band for fifty years.”

Every week a different nonprofit organization hosts a bake sale in the gazebo. Interested in hosting next summer? Watch for announcement in January 2018 to participate in the lottery next spring.

The drawing sponsor for the seventh Naperville Municipal Band Concert of the season is Positively Naperville, featuring a surprise ringleader with fun giveaways. Be sure to pick up a numbered program to play the free raffle with this week’s prizes provided by Positively Naperville and the Naperville Municipal Band.

The Bake Sale host is ClaySpace, a nonprofit clay arts studio in Lisle. ClaySpace offers ceramics classes “to develop, sustain and promote a nonprofit art-centered community that provides outstanding educational, artistic and collaborative programs in the ceramic arts to its Resident Artists and to the general public.”

For 53 years, the award-winning Naperville Municipal Band has been under the musical direction of Conductor Keller. Admission is free of charge.

Central Park is located at 104 E Benton Ave. in downtown Naperville, behind U.S. Bank, northeast of Washington St. and Jefferson Ave., in downtown Naperville.
