In late 2016, Scott Flak, owner of Second City Web Design, Inc., had an idea. In the spirit of the holiday season, he wanted to give back to the community that has supported his company.

After some thought with his fellow employees, they decided the best gift would be to give what they do best: create a custom website for a Naperville business.

Checking online, they decided to present their offer to Kreger’s Brat & Sausage Haus, a longtime Naperville family business with success dating back to 1893. The independent business also is a member of IndieBound-Naperville.

“The reasons were many and most are obvious,” said Flak. “Great people, great service, great long-time family business, great food. The deciding factor was to give back to a business that has given back themselves.”

Flak went on to explain that Kreger’s, located at 6th and Ellsworth streets, has and continues to host IndieBound Naperville monthly meetings which support local independent businesses on the first Monday of most months.

“When life sometimes closes doors, the Kreger family opens them,” added Flak.

And Flak went on to mention Kreger’s annual block party in September, an afternoon of free brats, live music and fundraising for cancer research in memory of Steph Lesiecki.

“It’s funny how it happened,” said Bill Kreger. “When Scott offered, I told him we already had a presence online that my sister Jean had created with one of those templates from GoDaddy. It satisfied our needs.”

Kreger said Flak really wanted to do it.

“Now we’re very happy. Scott’s a great guy,” said Bill Kreger. “Now I see the difference between a do-it-yourself with GoDaddy and what you get when your website is designed professionally.”

According to Flak, Second City Web Design created the custom website to match the quality, character and high standards of the Kreger family and their business.

Simply put, the website communicates the flavor of nostalgia accented by old photos and Kreger’s familiar slogan “Our wurst is the best.” Promoting 40 varieties of handcrafted bratwurst and sausages, the website also links to 21st century testimonials and videos.

“Bill and Jean were outstanding to work with and we completed the website in a timely manner,” said Flak.
