Pulse of Naperville Music Scene – Musicians market more than music

-

As the Summer approaches, most of us are eyeing our grills and coolers. Who doesn’t love something barbecued and something brewed, right? Well, the rock stars of today love food and drink (and cash) as much as we do, and many are marketing some rockin’ products!

I grew up with KISS guitar licks coming off those classic records, but now the licks come off of my fingers when I eat KISS’ Hotter Than Hell habanero hot sauce. KISS having a hot sauce is really no surprise since they put their name on everything from Mr. Potato Head to their own line of coffins, but acts like The Offspring, Bad Brains, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and newcomers Pierce The Veil all have a hot sauce to sell you, too. Legendary singer Patti LaBelle has taken things to a whole new level by having a line of hot sauces as well as marinades and barbecue sauces. She even has a selection of recipes and a number of cookbooks available on her website (www.pattilabelle.com).

But once you’ve drenched your food in all that sauce you’re going to need something to wash it down. Sting’s Sister Moon red wine is made on his Tuscan estate and is considered to be one of Italy’s finest. Maybe Sammy Hagar’s Beach Bar Rum is more your style, or perhaps Jimmy Buffett’s incredible Land Shark Lager.

And after all is said and done, and you’re looking for a little light reading while your meal settles, Bob Dylan has authored a number of books about his passion for wine.

Does it get any better?

EXTRA! EXTRA! I just received news that the legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd will be playing this year’s Operation Support Our Troops’ Rockin’ for the Troops on July 22, 2017, at Northwestern Medicine Field. That’s where the Kane County Cougars play in nearby Geneva. So fire up that grill, stock up on that Lynyrd Skynyrd hot sauce, and prepare to see a smokin’ show this summer!  Tune in next month for more details!
