NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 2:10AM on Friday morning (05/05/2017), Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident reporting fire and smoke in the basement of the home. Naperville PSAP dispatched a General Alarm assignment to the reported address which brought 12 pieces of fire apparatus and 26 fire personnel to the scene.
The first fire suppression unit arrived on the scene at 2:13AM and reported fire showing from the basement of the single story residence.
Fire attack was initiated by the first-arriving engine, medic, and truck companies and a water source was secured. The fire was found to be burning in the basement, which was quickly extinguished. Crews checked for extension in the ceiling and first floor of the home.
Additional fire companies on the scene completed an interior search of the single family residence. An inspector from Naperville’s Transportation Engineering and Development (TED) was also notified.
The home remained habitable. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
