Update! Naperville Police arrest nail salon robber

UPDATE May 3, 2017 / The Naperville Police Department has arrested Rio Franklin, 25, of Naperville, for the Saturday March 25, 2017, Armed Robbery of the U.S. Nail Salon in the 900 block of east Ogden Ave.

During the robbery the offender displayed a semi-automatic handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of currency along with a victim’s vehicle, a 2004 Black Volvo SUV.

Franklin has been charged with…

  • Armed Robbery, a Class X Felony
  • Possession Stolen Motor Vehicle, a Class 2 Felony
  • Aggravated Unlawful Restraint, four counts each a Class 3 Felony.

Naperville Police continue to investigate Franklin for any possible connection to other Naperville area crimes.

 The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

 NAPERVILLE CRIME STOPPERS are offering up to a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest of person(s) responsible for an Armed Robbery

At approximately 6:26PM, on Saturday March 25, 2017, Naperville Police Department officers responded to the 900 block of east Ogden Ave. for the report of a robbery at a local nail salon. Upon arrival it was determined that the offender, who had left the scene prior to police arrival, displayed a semi-automatic handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of currency along with the victim’s vehicle, a 2004 Black Volvo SUV. The offender, pictured below had fled the scene eastbound on Ogden Ave. in the black Volvo.

He is described as follows: Male, black, mid-20’s, approximately 5’08”, 150-160 pounds. He was reported to be wearing all white clothes including a hooded sweatshirt.

UPDATE, March 27, 2017 / The Naperville Police now have a number of surveillance photos of the offender.

Naperville PoliceNAPERVILLE, Ill. — At approximately 6:26PM (March 25, 2017) Naperville Police Department officers responded to the 900 block of east Ogden Ave. for the report of a robbery at a local nail salon.

Upon arrival it was determined that the offender, who had left the scene prior to police arrival, displayed a semi-automatic handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of currency along with the victim’s vehicle, a 2004 black Volvo SUV.

The offender had fled the scene eastbound on Ogden Ave. in the black Volvo.

He is described as follows: Male, black, mid-20’s, approximately 5’ 08”, 150-160 pounds. He was reported to be wearing all white clothes including a hooded sweatshirt. (Other photos show full figure in white, top to bottom, with black running shoes. This better close-up photo looks off-white.)
