Dear District 204 Community,

The Board of Education of Indian Prairie School District 204 recognizes that a change and improvement in funding must occur for Illinois public schools. Districts around the state are facing difficult financial challenges. Inadequate or late funding payments are impacting students. Many districts will have no alternative but to cut programs and services from their budgets.

Currently, the State of Illinois owes Indian Prairie more than $15 million.

In light of these challenges, our Board of Education drafted a resolution calling for the inadequate process of education funding to be rectified as soon as possible. The Board unanimously approved this resolution at its March 20, 2017 meeting. The resolution was shared with Governor Bruce Rauner, state elected officials, other education leaders in our state, and other school districts.

In communicating its concern, the Board of Education hopes that budget issues will be resolved and districts throughout the state will be able to meet the standard of high quality education for all students.
