Above / The Legacy Girls again performed popular songs of the World War II era when the DuPage Veterans Foundation hosted the 5th Annual Honor Flight Chicago Fundraiser on May 7, 2016. This year the Naperville Big Band will perform.

The Honor Flight is perfectly planned to provide an indelible memory for WWII and Korean Era Veterans and their guardians. The one-day tour includes visits to memorials in Washington, including Arlington Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. (PN Photo Sept. 3, 2016)

The 6th Annual Honor Flight Chicago Fundraiser returns to the Calamos Investments Hangar at the DuPage Airport on Sat., May 6, 2017. Doors officially open at 11AM. Lunch is finished by 2PM.

Organizers are more than pleased that this event already has raised more than $200,000 to support many Honor Flights for WWII and Korean War Era Veterans, providing opportunities to see Memorials in Washington, D.C., and to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime one-day experience with the assistance of a proud guardian.

Again the fun-filled spirited program inside the Calamos Investments Hangar includes patriotic music and is a time to recognize all World War II and Korean Era Veterans as honored guests. Lunch is included. A silent auction of donated items from generous businesses, 50:50 raffle, memorabilia and vintage airplane displays will add to the day’s festivities of fundraising that end by 3PM.

Organizers welcome World War II and Korean era Veterans to attend free of charge.

ICYMI: The mission of the DuPage Veterans Foundation is to raise enough money for one HONOR FLIGHT CHICAGO flight for our WWII & Korean Era Heroes to fly to Washington D.C. for a day of honor and the chance to see their War Memorials.

Photo Galley Posted May 7, 2016 / Thanks to all the “Veterans helping Veterans” as the DuPage Veterans Foundation again rallied to raise funds so all military men and women who served in World War II and Korea have an opportunity to take the gift of the Honor Flight Chicago to Washington, D.C., at no charge.

Members of the volunteer organization honored World War II and Korean War Era Veteran heroes during festivities at the Calamos Hangar at the DuPage Airport in West Chicago. Their intention also is to heighten awareness about taking the one-day trip to Washington, D.C., at no cost to the veteran with hopes everyone will help spread the word, especially to families with World War II veterans.

All proceeds from this annual event will benefit Honor Flight Chicago.

Donations to the 501 ( c ) 3 organization can be contributed any time. Simply mail to P.O. Box 299, Wheaton, IL 60187.
