Through May 14, Art exhibit: North Central College presents the artwork of Lorraine Peltz in “The Decorative Impulse” through May 14 in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Using imagery culled from both personal history and the contemporary moment, Peltz’s paintings and works on paper examine the ideas of memory, place and identity. April 1, Music: North Central College presents America at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 1, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. April 2, Theatre: North Central College welcomes Theatreworks USA for two performances of the children’s production “Charlotte’s Web” at noon and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 Benton Ave. Based on E.B. White’s original story, the play depicts the loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. April 3, Music: North Central College presents Allos Musica, an ensemble of clarinet, ethnic winds, accordion and percussion instruments from around the world. Performed at 7 p.m. Monday, April 3, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., the concert features contemporary classical, jazz and traditional music from the Middle East and Europe and North Central’s Chamber Singers. April 4, Author visit: Anderson’s Bookshops and North Central College copresent comedian and YouTube star Lilly Singh for a presentation and photo line event at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, in North Central’s Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. In her new book “How to be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life,” Singh uses stories from her own life to illustrate her message. April 5, Victim services fair: The Naperville Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation will cohost a victim services information fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, in North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall lobby at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Designed to raise awareness about crime victims’ rights and services, the information fair is open to the public. Participating organizations include the Victim Service Units and Children Advocacy Centers of both DuPage and Will counties, Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Illinois Attorney General, Adult Protective Services, Mutual Ground, Family Shelter Service, National Alliance for Mental Illness and others. April 5, Music: North Central College’s Sounds of New Music presents the mixed chamber ensemble Picosa at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Featuring flute, clarinet, violin, cello and piano, Picosa performs its signature symphonic sound with innovative programming, bringing the art of virtuosic chamber music to every concert experience. April 7, Transfer information session: North Central College will host an information session Friday, April 7, for transfer students. Visitors can learn about academic choices, transfer admission process, scholarships and financial aid. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. in Smith Hall at Old Main, 30 N. Chicago Ave. An active jazz performer, educator and composer, Paliga is a founding member of the Chicago Jazz Composers Collective and member of North Central’s jazz faculty. April 8, Comedy: North Central College welcomes Kathleen Madigan in her “Bothering Jesus Tour” at 8 p.m.Saturday, April 8, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Madigan has won the American Comedy Award and Phyllis Diller Award for Best Female Comedian and remains the only comedian in the history of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” to go unchallenged by any other comedian. April 9, Music: North Central Colleges welcomes Mandy Nousain Boothe at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 9, in the College’s Madden Theatre in the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. A North Central graduate, Boothe has captivated audiences in the Kansas City jazz and cabaret scenes with her fresh interpretations of everything from classical musical theater to vintage pop and the Great American Songbook. April 14, Visit day: High school students and their parents or guardians are invited to attend North Central College’s Visit Day on Friday, April 14, in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. The day begins with check-in at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at noon with lunch at Kaufman Dining Hall. Visitors can take a walking tour and attend informative sessions on financial aid, academic highlights and student life. April 14, College closes at noon: In observance of Good Friday, North Central College offices and the fine arts box office will be closed at noon.

April 19, Panel: Hosted by North Central College’s student service club Cardinals in Action, a panel titled “CallToAction: Making Changes in a New Political Landscape” will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in the College’s Harold and Eva White Activities Center, 325 E. Benton Ave. This roundtable discussion is free and open to the public and will be led by North Central alumna Meggie Zayas of Reclaiming Me, Megan Nakra, and Laura Zinger of the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders. April 19, Speaker: North Central College hosts Shane Claiborne for its Lux Veritas Speaker Series at 8:30 p.m.Wednesday, April 19, in the College’s Koten Chapel at Kiekhofer Hall, 329 E. School St. An activist and best-selling author, Claiborne founded The Simple Way, a New Monastic community in Philadelphia, and heads up Red Letter Christians. His work has appeared in Esquire, SPIN, Christianity Today and The Wall Street Journal; he has been a guest on Fox News, CNN, Al Jazeera and NPR; and he has spoken at Harvard, Princeton and Notre Dame universities. April 20-23, Theatre: North Central College presents four performances of its production of “The Navigator” at 7:30 p.m. April 20-22 and at 2 p.m. April 23 in the theatre in Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Written by Eddie Antar and directed by Laura Lodewyck, North Central’s assistant professor of theatre, the story follows a man who begins to question what control he has over his life after his GPS system begins to instruct him about major life changes. April 29, Ballet: North Central College presents the Russian National Ballet Theatre in its performance of “Giselle” at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 29, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. The ballet is the story of a peasant girl, who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another. The company was founded in Moscow in the 1980s and consists of more than 50 dancers of singular instruction and vast experience.
