Don’t take it lightly. Votes mattered in 2017 Consolidated Primary Election

Above / Fourteen special locations were designated for voters to cast ballots in the Naperville Township Republican Primary on February 28. Be sure to check where your precinct is located on April 4. Postcards have been mailed with the correct polling place.

Today, February 28, 2017, two townships that serve Naperville—Naperville Township and Winfield Township—held Consolidated Primary Elections.

Voters had an opportunity to head to the polls to narrow fields of Republican candidates for placement on the April 4 ballot.

Democrat and Republican candidates in the other townships are determined by caucus for the April 4 ballot in the Consolidated Election. In that upcoming election, township candidates will on the ballot with candidates for Naperville City Council, 203 and 204 School Boards, Park District Board of Commissioners and College of DuPage Board of Trustees.

The City of Naperville is served, in portions, by six townships: Naperville, DuPage, Lisle, Milton, Wheatland and Winfield. Illinois is home to 1,432 townships.

Thanks to all candidates who participated in the election and to voters for taking time to do their civic duty on Feb. 28, and again on April 4, 2017.

For Supervisor: Rachel Ossyra*** 1,276 votes or 52.79% and Walter Reilly 1,141 votes or 47.21%. (Vote for One)

For Township Clerk: Barry Greenberg*** 1,608 votes or 71.56% and Tom Laz 639 votes or 28.44%.  (Vote for One)

For (Four Seats) Township Trustee: Kerry Malm***, 1,077 or 12.03%; Paul Santucci***, 1,222 or 13.65%; Kurt Dorr, 873 or 9.75%; Cathy Hanzelin, 993 or 11.09%; Chris Jacks, 375 or 4.19%; William Lueck, 1011 or 11.29%; Dan Porter, 941 or 10.51%;  Jim Ruhl***, 1,041 or 11.62%; Ernest Kovacs, 315 3.52%; and Heather Bejda*** 1,107 or 12.36%. (Note that Aurora residents who live in Naperville Township also will be voting for a new Mayor on Primary Election Day. Nine hopefuls—four appearing on the ballot and five declared “write-ins”— will vie for two spots on the April 4 ballot. The two candidates with the most votes will advance to the Consolidated election on April 4 one of whom will be elected as the Mayor of Aurora.)

Naperville Township Republican Primary 

Vote 6AM-7PM Tues., Feb. 28, 2017, at your neighborhood polling place. Alert! Places might be different. 

Polling places are being consolidated down to 14 per the list from the DuPage Election Commission.

The weekend of Feb. 11-12, 2017,  volunteers placed information on doorsteps of registered voters with voter info.

They will send postcards to every address within the Township providing information about this change.

About 50 percent of the households will be assigned to a different polling place from the November 2016 election. However, the polling place will be convenient to their home address.
