West Suburban Irish Quiz Night will feature 2016 in Review

-

Above / Family, friends and neighbors have gathered together for years to challenge their memories, wit and wisdom during almost-monthly West Suburban Irish Quiz Nights at Quigley’s Irish Pub.

Local quiz masters are set for the popular WSI Quiz Night beginning at 7PM, Tues., Jan. 3, at Quigley’s Irish Pub in downtown Naperville.

Members of the West Suburban Irish will kick off the New Year with four timely and challenging categories: 2016 in Review, Broken Records, Screen to Stage Musicals and the always haunting Dead or Alive?

Quiz play is free for a chance to see if you can outsmart WSI President Chuck Corrigan and friends as they provide polite banter and help tally up the scores.

Start 2017 by teaming up! No experience is necessary. Groups from two to eight individuals make up a team and are welcomed to create their own distinctive team name on the spot. Arrive in plenty of time to stake out a team table.

Cheating is a disqualifier.  Smart phones and tablets are prohibited. Play fair with brainpower to test your knowledge and recall for the pure fun of it.

Treasured prizes with bragging rights are awarded to teams with the most creative names and ones that win First Place, Second Place and Third Place. Winners of each round of trivia also are recognized.

Quigley’s Irish Pub  is located at 43 E.  Jefferson Ave. in downtown Naperville. Prizes are provided by the West Suburban Irish, Positively Naperville and Quigley’s Irish Pub.

WSI Quiz Night returns again on the first Tuesday in February, March, April, May and June; skips July; plays in August, skips September; and runs in October, November and December.

West Suburban Irish soon will select St. Patrick’s Parade Queen

What’s more, as the West Suburban Irish prepare for all the St. Patrick’s Day festivities beginning in late February and running through March 17, here’s a trivia question: When is it time for juniors and seniors in high school to apply to serve as St. Patrick’s Parade Queen?

Answer: Now!

January is the time for local juniors and seniors to fill out an application to serve as the St. Patrick’s Parade Queen. The queen and her court are selected by a committee based upon their responses to a series of questions about their Irish heritage and community involvement as well as why they want to be Parade Queen.

Parade Queen applicants also must be available to be introduced at the Emerald Dinner set for Feb. 25, reign during the St. Patrick’s Parade on March 11 and attend the Irish Mass on March 14. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31, 2017.

The application is available online at www.wsirish.org along with other information about the fun-loving group known for celebrating Irish culture with good food, good friends and good music.

West Suburban Irish fundraisers heighten awareness for the youth cancer research efforts of St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
