Naperville Gardener – Let the Naperville Garden Club help you get excited about the holidays!

-

Our Cup of Cheer House Walk, Holiday Market and Tea begins the holiday season December 1 and 2. Four homes (near downtown Naperville and north of 75th Street) are decorated with enthusiasm and fresh ideas while respecting the traditions and preferences of the homeowners.

One of our house chairs, Bonnie Bula, has been leading a decorating committee for over 20 years! Many on her committee have signed up year after year to join her preparing homes for this event as well as members looking for a new Cup of Cheer experience. This year, not only will Bonnie and her committee decorate one of the largest homes ever featured on our House Walk (12,000 square feet of living space!), but also will put up the decorations they made for the Martin Mitchell house at Naper Settlement last year when the house was featured on our Cup of Cheer House Walk. Naper Settlement is not part of our event this year, but can be visited in all its holiday splendor.

New this year at the Holiday Market is a collection of winning cookie recipes since we started having a cookie contest in 2012. (Look for my recipe!) At the Tea, the souvenir cup has a lemon pattern. Be sure to plan time to enjoy member-baked cookies with tea or coffee.

Tickets are on sale at Country Curtains (233 S. Main St.), Naperville Bank and Trust (1205 S. Naper Blvd.), Nona Jo’s (410 W. Fifth Ave.), both Oxford Bank locations (1260 Book Rd., Rt. 59 and 83rd St.) and The Growing Place (Naperville location only, 25 W. 471 Plank Rd.) Tickets are $55 (Thursday, limited number sold, no waiting in line) and $35 Friday.

For more information, visit www.napervillegardenclub.org or call our Ticket Chair, Barbara, at (630) 650-4405.

Our November 16 meeting will feature Peter Samek, “Holiday Floral Designs that Dazzle.” Details on the PN calendar and our website www.napervillegardenclub.org.
