Teen’s Taste – Dining on a senior dime

-

I believe I told you in a previous issue that this is my senior year at Naperville Central.  With that comes a new freedom to drive off-campus for lunch. This is a true mouthwatering experience for the pallet and a hole in your wallet.  In the beginning of the semester my crew would be going to McDonald’s, Panda Express, Noodles & Company and Portillo’s.

As I was looking at my bank account one day, I realized that if I keep this up, I will be spending more on lunches than I ever had in the past.

One of my friends suggested that we try Costco. Some of us were very skeptical … and were like “Wait, isn’t that a stock-up store?”

Well, we gave it a try and to my surprise we found it to be quite good and reasonable. They have really good brats and hots dogs. Those are my favorite things to get.

Their food items are almost half the price as what we were paying at the other restaurants. They do not have a lot of variety, but enough for me and my friends – hot dogs, brats, pizza, beef brisket, turkey and provolone and a chicken bake.

They also have yummy fat-free yogurt and delicious smoothies.

When I told my mom about our my new found lunch gem, she asked me how we were able to get in without a Costco card and I told her that you do not have to have a membership to purchase food at their food court!  Score!

So if you are looking for a good bargain for lunch on your senior dime, check out the Costco Food Court and tell them Jack the foodie sent ya!

Until next month, have a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.
