HarborChase of Naperville welcomed the community to explore its spacious new facility during its grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony from 4 to 7PM on Thurs., Oct. 13.

Following the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony officiated by Laura Bokar, representing the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, folks were invited to tour the facility, sampling sumptuous buffets of food and beverages along the way.

Earlier, Jennifer Timmer, Executive Director of HarborChase of Naperville, noted the evening would be one to remember for all in attendance—friends, associates, residents and family members.

Indeed, the guests in attendance for the first look found many favorable first impressions.

The international-themed reception, “Passport Around the World,” featured a different country and culture at each of the four well-appointed dining venues in the senior living community.

With the assistance of talented chefs and musicians, guests experienced a variety of flavors representative of Thailand, Australia, France, Italy and Germany while they explored the recently opened “next level of senior living.”

Card rooms, game tables, a beauty salon, fitness center, private dining rooms and open spaces with big-screen televisions enhanced the facility where apartment living is devoted to Memory Care, assisted living and independent senior living.

Providing a huge welcome mat to the community, many familiar faces attended the open house.

Representing the German theme, the popular Johnny Wagner Band was performing oompah while folks went down Memory Lane with the musicians known for being the featured band at Rotary Oktoberfest for more than a decade in downtown Naperville.

Officers from the Naperville Fire Department have followed HarborChase since it first broke ground about 18 months ago, inspecting progress for public safety all along the way. In addition, as Chief Mark Puknaitis explained, when new residential housing developments open, plans must be in place for medical emergency services provided by the paramedics with the NFD.

The French cafe on the second floor was constantly busting as it attracted all ages to its dessert table. Chocolate eclairs, creme puffs and flavorful hard raspberry candies were in abundance, just the right size to sample more than one.

“We all came to see what’s new in our neighborhood,” said Mary Locher, surrounded by friends and neighbors from Naperville’s north side, as they sat near a table of French pastries. “We’ve enjoyed the food and the live entertainment. It’s just lovely.”

And a mime snapped a photo of their group, one of many pictures worth a thousand words.
