Ten years ago, NCTV17 responded to numerous requests from the community for a high school sports show with the creation of Naperville Sports Weekly. Since that time, the show has featured thousands of high school athletes preserving their moments of both victory and defeat for future generations to watch.
Each season, the NCTV17 sports crew covers both the boys’ and girls’ varsity athletes from all six Naperville area high schools: Benet Academy, Naperville Central, Naperville North, Neuqua Valley, Metea Valley and Waubonsie Valley. From the opening kick-off in football to the finish line in track, Naperville Sports Weekly gives local prep athletes their “ESPN moment.” With game highlights, interviews, and stories, viewers get to know the athletes – and their coaches – both on and off the field.
Throughout this anniversary season, we will be presenting a new monthly segment called, “Time Capsule” that will look back at the show and some of the highlights from each of the past nine seasons. The ever-popular “Play of the Week” returns again and with it the opportunity for viewers to vote for their favorite play with our online “Play of the Month” poll.
A new episode of Naperville Sports Weekly goes up every Thursday and Sunday at 6:30PM and re-airs throughout the week. It can be viewed on Channel 17 in Naperville on Comcast and WOW! and Channel 99 on AT&T. The entire episode can also be watched via live simultaneous stream at NCTV17.com as well as on demand at www.nctv17.com/category/sports/.
