Naperville residents prepare for last laps of runs and walks for charity

-

Above / Registration continues as runners and volunteers for the Naperville Noon Lions Club get set for the service club’s annual Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving Day!  One more thing… T-shirts are provided, but turkey-theme running attire is welcome. (PN File Photo)

Naperville residents and friends run, walk and bike for charity and fun at many area 5Ks, 10Ks, and multi-mile events.  October and November present the wrap up of popular running and walking events that welcome community support with more outdoor events by the week from mid-March through Thanksgiving Day.

PN appreciates the recent updates of returning events. Send updates for 2017 to Stephanie@positivelynaperville.com.

rotaryrunwebDSC_4752It seems like just yesterday the Rotary Sunrise St. Paddy’s Day 5K set off the outdoor movement of family-friendly events for the season on March 12, just before the annual  West Suburban Irish St. Patrick’s Parade, a tradition that exemplifies that Naperville loves a parade! (Search the Photo Galleries for parade photos.)

Now the community is headed down the long home stretch of special activities for all ages during October and November.

Dates for running and walking events in 2016 are lined up, mindful that on Thanksgiving Day there’s no penalty for running fast and eating later in the Naperville Noon Lions Club Turkey Trot.

Keep moving!

Below is a list of runs and walks yet to hit the streets and forest preserves.

turkeytrot_060With many charity runs and walks sandwiched in between each other, the final running event of the season is the Naperville Noon Lions Club Turkey Trot 5K(Note that registration for the annual Turkey Trot opens on May 1 for the following year and sells out before the big day.)

This calendar page is reserved for repeat events and/or ones hosted by longtime established service organizations and local nonprofits.

Please enter first-time events for consideration via PN’s calendar listing. Thanks. We appreciate updates for returning events planned in 2016.
