The 2016 Health Fair promises to be bigger and better than ever! Flu shots will be offered for the first time this year, along with some exciting offers inside of our 5,000 square foot Medical Equipment Showroom! Not only are will they be doing walker tune ups and scooter test drives, they’re having a super sale on our Golden Technologies Lift Chairs!  Door prizes and raffles will be offered throughout the day. The basket giveaway will include a Mini Tens Unit, a Bed Buddy, Tea Forte Ginger Pear White Tea, Candles and more!

Public Safety Open House – 10AM – 2PM
Naperville’s Public Safety Campus – 1380 Aurora Ave. Naperville, IL 60540
This must-see event (click here) will include a variety of activities and demonstrations including an auto
extrication and simulated DUI arrest along with a helicopter exercise, a K-9 demonstration, a SRT (Special Response Team) tactical demonstration and a flashover fire demonstration. A large display of Fire and Police vehicles and equipment will also be on-site. The 1924 Ahrens-Fox, Naperville’s second piece of motorized fire apparatus has been fully restored and will also be proudly displayed. Old favorites such as the evidence collection demonstration of fingerprint lifting, fire extinguisher training, and visits by Sparky and McGruff will be back again this year, as well. New this year, we will have a drone demonstration and FREE blood pressure screenings.

Casey’s Fires Up the Grill – 11AM | Price varies with purchase.
Casey’s Foods – 124 W. Gartner Rd. Naperville, IL 60540
Caseys Foods located at Naperville Plaza will be firing up its grill every Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 2PM through October, weather permitting. Choose from a variety of options, including burgers, brats, tacos or the weekly special. Its great food, at a good price, in a fun atmosphere.  Plus, it’s just around the bend from Oswald’s.

Garlic Fest – Noon – 3PM | Free

This festival really stinks! Taste three yummy garlic recipes from Chef Tom Moskos of The Art of Good Eating and learn how to make them. Learn garlic planting and growing tips and some weird and wacky garlic facts. Watch the growingplace.com for more details.

Indian Prairie School District 204 Marching Band Showcase – 2PM | Free
Metea Valley High School Auditorium – 1801 North Eola Road Aurora, IL 60502
The Marching Bands from Neuqua Valley, Waubansie Valley and Metea Valley High Schools will perform their Pre-Game and Half-Time Shows in front of friends, family, community and renown Clinicians. This showcase will occur at Metea Valley High School on October 1 from 2 -5PM. Don’t miss this first-ever opportunity to see all 3 District 204 High School Marching Bands perform.

Singing for Seniors (55 and up!) – 3PM | Free

The 17th annual Singing for Seniors will take the stage at 3PM on Sat., Oct. 1 at its senior-friendly location, Community Christian Church (The Yellow Box), at the intersection of Rickert and Ogden across from Fair Oaks Ford. Seniors are invited to sit back, relax and enjoy an afternoon concert designed just for them. The church offers ample parking and is handicap accessible. Open seating is available and no tickets are necessary. INFO:  www.SingingForSeniors.org.

German Language Church Service – 11:30AM | Free
St. John United Church of Christ – 1190 Olesen Drive Naperville, IL 60540
Church services in the German language will be held at St. John United Church of Christ at 11:30AM on Sunday, October 2. The service will be led by Pastor Dr. Egon Gerdes, and all are welcome to attend. St. John UCC is located at 1190 Olesen Drive. German services are held on the first Sunday of every month and will continue on November 6 and December 4. For more information, call (630) 355-5208.

Next weekend, the ‘Wes Spencer’ Cross Town Classic returns to Benedetti–Wehrli Stadium! Football rivals Naperville Central and Naperville North high schools face off beginning at 7:30PM next Fri., Oct. 7, 2016. Advance tickets are recommended. While all fans and spectators may purchase tickets at either high school, ticket sale times and locations vary. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students K through 12th grades. High School students must have school ID. Cash only, no debit/credit cards.

In a nutshell, this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, Oswald’s Pharmacy will host its 3rd Annual Health Fair, the Naperville Public Safety Center will host its annual “Partnering for Prevention,” and Naper Settlement will host day-two of Oktoberfest.
