Lock your vehicles or lose prized possessions, checks, credit cards

-

Above / With Naperville connections, Dick Tracy, the world’s most famous and intelligent police detective, stands to fight the criminal underworld. It’s time to pay attention. Don’t be a victim of the Felony Lane Gang.

According to a Facebook posts on Sept. 22, 2016, including one by Mayor Steve Chirico, the Felony Lane Gang could be back in town. The mayor asked residents to look out for suspects and to notify banks or police as soon as possible if they are burglarized.

Regardless, keeping every subdivision safe is every resident’s responsibility.

Lock your cars and trucks! Keep your purse or briefcase with you at all times, even if you only will be away from your vehicle for a few minutes. Pay attention to unfamiliar parked cars. Don’t be a victim of the Felony Lane Gang or any burglary.

Local reports say that since 2011, the national purse-snatching and window-smashing gang has hit Naperville numerous times. Facebook reports say the group has returned to target unsuspecting women while they watch children during activities at local parks or drop off or pick up kids at daycare.

Authorities say the thieves fit the modus operandi of the “Felony Lane Gang,” an interstate group of at least 100 people that has been operating for years, stealing millions of dollars across multiple state lines.

Info posted at Felony Lane Gang Task Force, Washington, D.C.

Up until recent months, many of these cases were filed away as local burglary and the bigger picture was missed entirely. These cases are connected…very well connected and this page is working hard to put the puzzle pieces together.

Members of the Felony Lane Gang are normally based in south Florida and from there travel the country in rental vehicles; they target gyms, parks, daycare centers, and sporting events likely to be frequented by women and increasing the chances of finding purses left in vehicles; they conduct surveillance at these locations and unlawfully enter vehicles through unlocked doors or by using a window punch to break the window of a locked vehicle; and they specifically look for identification such as driver licenses, checks, and debit cards.

The suspects then recruit females who are normally prostitutes and/or drug addicts to assume the identities of the theft victims in order to cash stolen checks belonging to other victims. The suspects normally supply the recruited check cashers with wigs in order to create a physical appearance similar to that of the victims whose identification was stolen.

The check cashers normally use the farthest drive through lane from the bank building to conduct the fraudulent transactions, hence the group earning the nickname as the Felony Lane Gang.

Be alert of where they are and where they are traveling. They have multiple groups working in different parts of the state. Please ensure anyone who has children check this page, understand what these criminals are watching for and learn how to prevent becoming a victim… Stay Alert and be able to provide timely information to law enforcement in hopes of catching these crooks and deterring future felony lane operations.

Be alert! Pay attention!

October is Crime Prevention Month in Naperville.  Keeping the community safe is everyone’s responsibility. If you see something suspicious, say something.
