I have sold nearly 1,000 Naperville area homes in my 34 years of selling real estate and except for a very few, my clients have come out winners. My overwhelming success has been working with clients who have bought and sold using their heads and their hearts. Both logic and emotion should play a role in the selection of your next home.
Here are some thoughts for your consideration.
LOGICAL ISSUES
Affordability – Can you afford to purchase the property? Do you have an adequate sum of money for the down payment and closing cost? Can you afford the monthly mortgage payment that will be required? Can you afford to make the improvements the property may need.
Basic Needs – Does this home provide for your basic needs in terms of bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage? Does it have a useable floor plan? Is the eating area adequate?
Investment Potential – Are values rising in the local area? Is the house surrounded by homes of equal or greater value? Is there strong demand for this area? Are the local schools desirable?
EMOTIONAL ISSUES
Do you see yourself living there? Does this house suit your tastes and personality? Does it feel right? No one can make these personal judgements for you. Only you know what you like.
Would this house be a source of pride for you? You will have to make sacrifices to buy it and keep it maintained. Does the house give you such a good feeling that the sacrifices are worth it?
Is it a place that you would like to come home to and share with your friends?
