Art Talk – The Riverwalk Fine Art Fair

-

“Ars longa, vita brevis,” a quote credited to the Greek physician Hippocrates, roughly translates to “Art is long, life is short.”

Now that fall is upon us, I would like to offer a variation to this aphorism: “Ars longa, ars festum brevis” (Art is long, art fairs are short).

You see, every September for the past 30 years, the Naperville Art League has hosted the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair on Jackson St. between Main & Eagle and along the Riverwalk. Scheduled this year for Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18, the show will bring some of the top rated national and international artists to Naperville’s downtown section for a two-day exhibition and sale.

As the Naperville Art League’s premier event, the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair garners kudos from participating artists and attendees and consistently appears on “best of” lists from local publications and artists’ resources. Because of its reputation, the fair attracts the attention of hundreds of artists who apply to the juried event with the hopes of being chosen for one of 135 booth spots available. The selected artists then present a colorful display of fine art and fine craft in the surrounds of Naperville’s crown jewel, the Riverwalk.

As complements, the DuPage Children’s Museum will be on site with an activity tent in the parking lot at Jackson and Main. Next to them, Allegro!!! returns to perform an elite string performance on Sunday, September 18 from 11AM to 1PM, and the DuPage Symphony will perform in the amphitheater at the west end both days, giving attendees an opportunity to shop, interact or just relax and enjoy.

Artworks purchased at the show will enhance the settings in which they are displayed for years to come, but the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair will be in town for only two days. Indulge in the experience!
