Additional lane closure will affect South Washington Street on Sept. 2

-

Above / Note an additional lane closure at the S. Washington Street Bridge will slow traffic in south Naperville on Fri., Sept. 2. Expect delays with progress. Perhaps find an alternate route on that day before Labor Day weekend. (PN File Photo, May 2016)

Pouring of new roadway in southbound lanes will require closure of third lane.

In conjunction with the work being done to expand the South Washington Street Bridge that began in June, the innermost of the two northbound lanes that have remained open to accommodate two-way traffic will be closed on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016.

The closure will begin at 7:30AM and end at 3PM, depending on the weather. Despite only one lane being open, traffic will be allowed to pass in both directions, but only in one direction at a time. Crews will be on-hand to guide the alternating traffic patterns.

The closure is due to the use of an oversized piece of machinery that will pour and level concrete in the two southbound lanes. Once the work is finished, the machine will be removed and the two lanes of traffic will be restored.

All drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes or allow extra travel time to reach their destinations.
