main-street-promenadeLook up! Organizers suggest that with the kids back in school enjoy a little “me time” today. Come to Mom’s Day Out and experience amazing one-day savings and treats downtown. Shop til you drop, enjoy lunch, indulge in a spa service or take a creative class such as pottery or painting. It’s an action packed day to enjoy with friends.

Students perform two one-act plays, Users and Alky, which turn the spotlight on teen drug and alcohol abuse.

Students perform two one-act plays, Users and Alky, which turn the spotlight on teen drug and alcohol abuse. These plays serve as a reminder of issues facing today’s teens and what’s at stake. This performance is PG13 and not meant for younger audiences. Counselors from Power of Choice, Rosecrance Health Network and Linden Oaks Hospital will be on hand after each show to answer questions and distribute prevention and treatment materials.

Today is National Dog Day, a time to celebrate all breeds, pure and blended. Help create public awareness to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued. Thanks, Dog Patch!

Caseys Foods located at Naperville Plaza will be firing up its grill every Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 2PM through October, weather permitting. Choose from a variety of options, including burgers, brats, tacos or the weekly special. Its great food, at a good price, in a fun atmosphere.  Plus, it’s just around the bend from Oswald’s where kids will find school supplies and spirit wear.

Dog Patch Pet Adoption Reunion – 10AM – 3PM

Dog Patch is excited to be hosting an Adoption Reunion from 10AM to 3PM on Sat., August 27. Since 2010 they have sent home nearly 1,500 dogs from rescues as close as Chicago and as far away as Tennessee. These animals were on their last shot at finding a home. Many were on death row. They are excited to create a chance to see these animals again.  Gift bags and a doggie ice cream truck are planned. Look for some awesome raffles to raise money to save more dogs. dogpatchpets.com.

It’s the 80th year at the Growing Place! On August 27 in Naperville, The Growing Place is throwing a party to say thank you for being a part of The Growing Place family. This year the raffle and silent auction will be to benefit Families Helping Families. FHF is a grassroots neighborhood organization started by a Naperville mom in 1994, with the sole focus of helping homeless families in DuPage County. FHF provides apartments and supportive services to homeless families while they are working to reclaim their lives. Well have sales and specials throughout the afternoon. Play Plant Bingo for plant prizes! Sample wines from all over the world. (Bottles will be available for purchase.) Enjoy ice cream treats and music from the areas largest Dulcimer Band. Take a TGP Heirloom Garden Walk with co-owner Carol Massat, the driving force behind our Learning Gardens. noon-3PM. Stump the Tree ExpertCertified Arborist Skeet, of Bartlett Tree Experts in Bolingbrook, will answering all of your tree care questions or bring in your pest samples (in a sealed Ziploc bag) for answers to all your tree questions.
