With a 26-year history of providing education and training to children ages 6 months to 18 years and adults and known to be one of only 37 non-college Steinway Schools of Distinction in the world, the School of Performing Arts (SPA) is set to open new dance, music and theater facilities at 1112 S. Washington Street in the fall of 2016.

SPA also will join with A&A Ballet to offer classes and a Conservatory program in Chicago at the American Rhythm Center, 410 South Michigan Avenue.

The new Naperville facilities feature live dance accompanists, state-of-the-art full span dance studios with sprung marley floors, a large performance studio, parent lounge, student lounge with vending, as well as state-of-the art music studios and practice rooms and studio space devoted to TV and film production.  Fresh snacks and meals will be available for order through Casey’s Foods.

“The addition of these talented collaborators catapults our dance program to even higher levels of excellence,” stated SPA Administrative Director Joni Wiltz Berkley in a news release.  “A solid foundation in ballet enhances technique, strength, agility and artistry in all dance forms. Whether our students are classically-minded pre-professionals or simply studying for the joy of dance, whether they are studying jazz, tap, hip hop or contemporary dance, their ballet training is key to their growth and development.  The School of Performing Arts has always been committed to providing this foundation, and Anna and Alexi will make our efforts even more effective.”

School of Performing Arts elevates dance program with collaborative appointment of Joffrey Academy and Studio Company Directors, Aleei Kremnev and Anna Reznik.

Russian natives who immigrated to this country, Kremnev and Reznik have a reputation for producing strong, dynamic, sophisticated dancers, built on knowledge of the syllabus they have been creating since 1997, based primarily on purity and a clear structure of the Russian school, but with a deep understanding of the current and most progressive approaches to dance and movement.

Kremnev began his career in Moscow at the world famous Bolshoi Ballet Academy (Degree of Ballet Artist), the Russian Academy of Theatrical Art (GITIS), and the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (Degree in Pedagogy and Choreography). Either as a Principal Artist, Choreographer or Teacher, he has worked internationally with the Moscow Festival Ballet (Russian National Ballet), England’s Northern Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, BalletMet, Tulsa Ballet, and the Russian and European Stars of the Ballet.  He is the Laureate of the Leonide Massine Award, the Nureyev International and Lifar International Ballet Competition. Among the legendary teachers Mr. Kremnev studied with, two who influenced his teaching philosophy the most are Eleonora Vlasova, a laureate of the Paris Academy of Dance Award for her achievements in ballet, and German Pribilov, who studied with Alexander Pushkin, a teacher of Rudolph Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Resnik began her career in Moscow at the world famous Bolshoi Ballet Academy (Degree of Ballet Artist) and the Bolshoi Institute of Choreography (Degree in Pedagogy). She toured throughout the world as a Principal Artist with the Moscow Festival Ballet (later the Russian National Ballet), England’s Northern Ballet Theatre, Cincinnati Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, BalletMet, Tulsa Ballet Theatre, and the Russian and European Stars of the Ballet.  Reznik has won numerous awards, including a Special Diaghilev Prize, Silver Medal at the 1996 Lifar International Ballet Competition, as well as the top prize at the 1996 Nureyev International Ballet Competition and the 1996 Maya International Ballet Competition.

With former students currently dancing with such prestigious companies as The Joffrey Ballet, New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Staatsoper Berlin and a dozen others, Reznik and Kremnev bring a sensitivity for the individual goals and capabilities of the students they teach, creating a syllabus which is solid, yet flexible to meet individual dancers needs. The commitment of A&A to the School of Performing Arts program will ensure a progressive program which will develop students over years of study. Regional performance opportunities and originally choreographed productions will enhance the experience for students of all dance disciplines and will include students in theatre and music classes as well.

“We understand that teaching young dancers, classes must be challenging and also fun.  We are committed to training young dancers to find their personality, independence and artistry,” noted Kremnev. “And the magic happens when there is chemistry between teacher and student. The personal attention we offer to each student helps them achieve their greatest potential.  Then we must provide the opportunity to use their talent and technique on stage in high-level productions choreographed to bring out the best in each dancer.”

The School of Performing Arts and A&A Ballet plan a production of Cinderella, in Spring 2017 and a full-scale production the The Nutcracker for the 2017 holiday season.
