Pending weather or unforeseen circumstances, reconstruction work on the main level entry way to the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., will begin on Wednesday, July 6. This project will require visitors to use alternate means to enter the building. The entry way to the Municipal Center was identified in the City’s 2015 Facility Transition Plan as being in need of reconstruction to bring it up to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Between July 6 and 15, the right half of the exterior entry stairs, wheelchair ramp and garden box will be demolished to make way for a safer and more accessible entry way to the Municipal Center.

During this time, the left half of the stairway will still be useable but visitors will have to approach the stairs around the west end of the fountain as the sidewalk immediately leading to the Municipal Center will be closed.

From July 15 to August 12, the left half of the staircase leading to the front doors of the Municipal Center will be demolished as well rendering the entire main level entry to the Municipal Center inaccessible.

Note the option to enter on the north side of the Municipal Center where it faces the DuPage River.

Visitor and accessible parking spaces at the Municipal Center will be moved to the lower level of the parking deck at the onset of this project. All accessible parking spaces will be against the building at the north end of the lot. The normal row of visitor spaces will be expanded to include the pull-through spaces behind them. Signs will be in place indicating the new parking configuration.

Work will be conducted 7AM to 4PM on weekdays and the project is scheduled to be completed by August 30.
