The Naperville Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check on Fri., June 24, 2016.
The purpose of this program is to identify motorists who choose to drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and remove them from the streets. During the Roadside Safety Check officers will slow traffic, stopping cars at predetermined intervals. The enforcement initiative is designed to insure that our roadways are safe for those who choose to drive in compliance with the law.
In 2015, the Naperville Police Department arrested 369 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The Naperville Police Department is proud to partner with advocacy groups to make local streets and roadways safer. The NPD calls upon all citizens, government agencies, business leaders, hospitals and other healthcare providers, schools, and public and private institutions to promote safe driving and awareness of the dangers of impaired and distracted driving and to support programs and policies to reduce the incidence of impaired and unbelted driving.
The Naperville Police Department is committed to reducing the number of persons killed or injured in alcoholrelated crashes by stopping impaired driving as well as incidents of motorists driving unbelted, distracted or aggressively.
The NPD is also committed to educating the public on the dangers of impaired driving and remind all motorists of their responsibility to drive sober, wear a safety belt, avoid distracted driving and refrain from driving aggressively.
