The second concert of the Naperville Municipal Band’s Summer Concert Series featured A European Vacation.
Conducted by Assistant Conductor Emily Binder, more than a thousand music-goers enjoyed European inspired compilations from Italy, Russia and the magic of Andrew Lloyd Weber with family, friends and new friends.
Just prior to the concert, Ellman’s Music Center hosted its annual Instrument Petting Zoo. All children were invited to come out and try any and all instruments on exhibit in the “zoo” with the assistance of Pete Ellman and his music-loving helpers. When Ellman was introduced, he provided a brief history of his family-owned independent business that his parents moved to Naperville in 1963. He also gave a shout out for IndieBound Naperville, a group of independent business owners with bright red “shop local” signs in their windows.
The Band will play every Thursday night beginning at 7:30PM through August 18. Concerts are open to the public and free of charge.
Conductor and Music Director Ron Keller returns to strike up the 100-member band, beginning his 51st year of leadership, a dream come true that began when he was 27 years old! Ann Lord again serves as concert moderator.
Each week also features an audience appreciation raffle featuring prizes from local businesses.
