Above / May 9 enforcement campaign focused on speed, distracted driving and restraint violations. Numbers reflect drivers need to slow down, stop texting while driving and buckle up.
On Monday, May 9, 2016, the Naperville Police Department joined neighboring police departments along the Route 59 corridor from Will County to Cook County in a directed traffic safety initiative aimed at increasing the safety of citizens utilizing the thoroughfare.
Participating agencies in this joint enforcement and education effort included the Aurora, Bartlett, Hoffman Estates, Naperville, Plainfield, Shorewood, Streamwood and Warrenville police departments.
During this detail, officers concentrated their efforts on speed, distracted driving and occupant restraint violations as well as other safety violations noted during the course of the initiative.
During the mobilization, the participating departments issued:
- 20 citations for seat belt violations
- 32 citations for cell phone violations
- 8 citations to uninsured motorists
- 47 citations for speeding
- 25 citations for truck violations
- 11 citations for registration violations
The Naperville Police Department would like to remind all motorists to “Buckle Up” and drive safely.
